Muscle aches & fasting

Hi,
Survived 3 fasts now! I seem to be coping relatively well, and even with a relatively sedentary life, am seeing weight loss.

On 'fast' days, I currently restrict myself to one evening meal per day. I have been lucky so far and have not suffered too much with regards to hunger pains during the day. Although, after dinner last night (a fast day), I had this nagging urge to snack. One that could be ignored thankfully.

The main side effects I am experiencing are
1) a feeling of exhaustion, constant yawning once I step out of work. No hassles while working, but on the drive home, I get an attack if the yawns, which seem to stop once at home, a 45 minute drive away.

2) more noticeable is the muscle soreness or stiffness, mainly in the arms, shoulders and legs. Although after the third fast, it is also starting on the sides of my torso (abdominal region) . This also happened while on the Atkins diet. I was wondering as to the cause.

Hi Dude, could it have something to do with lack of carbs :?: I am sure one of our lovely nerdy types will have an explanation.

Trying taking a bath with epsom salts, the magnesium should ease the muscle stiffness.

Do you sweat alot? Try something a bit salty, like soup or bouillon.

Jaffer,
Not sure, but the aches will last till the next day even though I will eat a normal dinner on fast night. But could be related to metabolism of fat? I am curious as the aches generally will precede weight loss in those area. When I lose, the areas that ache first will generally be the areas the weight/mass is lost first.

Betsygr8,
Can't have a bath in the middle if the day at work :P truth be told, while they are present, the aches are not severe enough to be a bother or concern, as long as it is weight loss due to metabolism of fat and not muscle.

As for sweating, not really a sweater. Besides, we are going into the cooler months down under, so heat is not as much of an issue

Lol, ok then just think of them as "shrinking" pains.

At least, until one of the forum nerds offers a different explanation.

I'll second shrinking pains!
or it could be slight detox symptoms?
The nerdy section will be about n a couple of hours (don't want to waken them just yet) and I'm sure you'll get a sensible answer then.
*shrinking pains, giggles* love it
