Benefits & Side Effects

Hello girls (apologies in advance to any boys),

Yesterday I got my 3rd period since I started 5:2 and it is horrible.
PMS started a week ago but the actual period is like the ones I had with PCOS before starting the pill.
The cramps are bad, my joints ache, I've been a semi-permanent resident of the loo and yesterday I had very bad nausea too. On top of that, I must have very bad water retention because I feel oh-so-bloated.

I can't -of course- be sure that it is because of 5:2 but it started since I started and it's getting worse every time.

To be honest, I don't know why I posted. I'm not sure if I should ask for your advice or support but any input will be highly appreciated!!!
Could it be something to do with your Dukan experiment on top of 5:2
Hmmmm I haven't thought of that, although I only did it for two days last week and it was before lunch yesterday when I got my period so my body didn't know what it was going to eat..
There is no doubt that the fasting effects the hormones. For me though my pms has been improved. Cycle length has changed and I possibly have had an anovulatory phase (according to my friend a general practitioner) as the cycle was so long this time. I am approaching 50 though so she said I can't necessarily put it down to 5:2. Who knows?
I hope you feel better tomorrow TML13.
The pill can't be reviewed, it stays as it is. I'm so determined to succeed with 5:2 that I don't want to review this either, LOL!

What might be wise to do though (and your advice inspired me so THANK YOU) is to monitor my situation for 3 more months and then pay a visit to my OBGYN with my notes.

Izzy, I turned on the electrical blanket last night! And I have a heated plaster on at the mo, while putting away the winter clothes. Perhaps I'm going mad, who knows???
Oooooooops, one more question!
Caro, you say that fasting affects the hormones. But I don't actually fast, since I eat 3 or 4 small meals. I'm only cutting back the calories, not not eating for longer periods than usual. Can that affect my hormones as well???
