An update on my daughter
09 Sep 2013, 07:52
For those kind people who offered support here is a quick update.
My daughter, age 34 has been diagnosed with bowel cancer which has already spread to her liver. She will start chemo this week.

It is so hard to bear this. She has always enjoyed a super healthy life, riding her horse, walking her dogs, cycling, eating healthy food which she and her partner, a lovely man, enjoyed cooking together. Her risk factors appear to be nil. She has always been a healthy weight but is now definitely skinny after being poorly for about three months. Weight loss is not always to be welcomed unfortunately.

We are trying to stay positive and so is she.

I send you a lot of good vibes :clover: :clover: :clover: :clover: :clover:

My dad is a living proof that there is always hope. 10 years ago he had 3 cancers at the same time, and, long story short, he is still with us today, in good health, considering his age (72)

Stay positive

Thanks for letting us know. I had been wondering but didn't like to ask. My best friend had bowel cancer and is now 3.5 years in the clear. I hope your daughter is as fortunate. If good vibes can help you'll get plenty from the folks on this forum. And hugs as well.

Gill, that must have been such a hard post for you to write so, thank you so much for sharing this with us. As everyone else has said, we all wish you, your daughter and your family all the very best for the immediate future and all our thoughts and love go with you all as you face up to a horrid time for your daughter. Treatments are becoming better and more efficient by the day so there is no reason why she should not be fine after her chemo.

Much love,

Ballerina x

Thanks so much for the update!
Sadly, there is no guarantee that doing the right thing (at least according to doctors) will keep one healthy but I'm sure that her previous lifestyle will help her get through this.
Anyway, stay positive. She WILL and CAN beat this!!!
You will soon be celebrating, you'll see. :-)

Big hugs from me too. What a hard time! I survived cancer after 3 years of treatment and only afterwards did I realise how hard it was on my parents. Now I have my own daughter I understand even more what they must have gone through. Keep us updated.
