Smashing, I took them both out much much faster than yesterday.
Am a very happy bunny.

Just a quick update to anyone whose interested.
I'm doing very well, got them in fairly fast this morning, still have trouble with them sticking to my finger. They're in for 6 hrs today, but I've noticed that close up (like using my phone and ipad) things are a bit blurry, maybe need another prescription. Shall call them in the morning. :clover:

I can't see anything close up, can't read labels or stuff with my contacts in it's a bloody nightmare

I chickened out of having mine lasered as I realised that I would still need glasses, but for reading instead. I would be swapping one prescription for another. I may still go for lasering though, as the varifocals are so expensive, especially as the frames just don't seem to last for very long these days.
I think I will try contact lenses again and pick up some reading glasses and see how that feels. Whether I actually need the reading glasses as much as I fear.

Exactly my thinking too Julie. I think I left it too late. If lasering had been as well established back when I was in my 30s I would have definitely had it done, but now I am needing a prescription for reading as well as long distance, the mono-vision contact lenses are a better option for me.

@Julieathome and @carorees you can have one eye lasered for reading and one for distance. I was a few years early for that as my reading was just fine at the time.

I'm going to call the opticians tomorrow as I'm too blurred and there's no point wearing contacts and also glasses for reading. I've only been wearing glasses a couple of years, already a tad fed up with it. Dropped one on the floor earlier when taking them out. I wasn't sure if it was still in, so when pressing my eye ball it did feel different, then went on search for missing lens.

All new to me still. Saying that I'm getting better.
I think.

A friend came to garden with me last weekend. She had laser treatment 10 years ago. Apparently it only lasts 5 years and you can only have the treatment once. She loved it, so it is a window of opportunity? I wore contacts in my 20's and glasses in my 30's. Since then nothing, as not wearing either has dramatically improved my eyesight overall. But now I'm off to the optician for a check up, let's see how I do, this time round. :clover:

Hi there, lasering was the best option for me when my reading sight went too. Now I just use cheap $10 reading glasses and nothing else. Voila, cost free!!!
Carieoates, dropping them on the floor is a right pain in the arras, my husband always knew to stop still when I shouted "I've dropped one'!!!!!! He watched my laser surgery as he loves nursy things and desribed it in loving detail afterwards. I'll spare the details!!

Just thought I would update all you lovely people who gave me advice and support when I first started using contacts.
Well I've had to have a slightly increased lens in my reading eye.
But..........I am now getting them in and out first time. And even leaving my glasses at home.

S'pose I'd better start paying for them now.
Thanks everyone.

I've worn contacts since I was about 16 and at first I was horrific at getting them out, I just couldn't do it the way they told me (sliding the lens off your eye and taking it out that way). But with practise you find your own way of doing it and what ever makes it comfortable, I just tend to pinch them now and they come out. To stop them sticking to your finger, use saline solution (if you're wearing disposable ones it comes in the pot with the lens). Pro tip though, when taking your lenses out make sure you have washed and dried your hands thoroughly. I made the mistake last year of not drying my hands and I developed a corneal ulcer on my eye which has left permanent scarring.
