If I'm so close to the end of Gone Girl, perhaps I should download this one. I'll need something to read on the plane...

Just downloaded it and as I have several hours on a plane coming up, it should be good reading!
I will be starting it too in next day or so!
My friend just sent me this link. Some potentially interesting options here for next year!

Me too!
I read this book over a couple of plane trips last week, I had just finished an Ian Rankin was keen on another thriller. I get the impression that this could be set up for some sequels, the way that the relationships have been put together, particularly Robin, Matthew and Cormoran. I enjoyed the plot, the characterisations and the background to Cormoran Strike.
I didn't pick the climax and enjoyed the ending; I didn't expect it and won't spoil it for others!! Thoroughly enjoyed it and hopefully there will be more of them.

Yes @Debs I got the impression that there will be sequels. I really liked the main two characters.
I've just finished a book called "Chasing the dead" the first of a new series from Tim Weaver. His main character is David Raker who finds missing people. I have to say, this book was gripping and there was a twist at the end that I really didn't see coming. I'd like to recommend this book for our January read as I think you'll all love it!

Started reading 'the cuckoos calling' and loving it so far, didn't think I would so that is a pleasant surprise. thanks for the tip Wendydarling about it being £1.99 as I was not prepared to pay the £6 or whatever it was. Scottish genes on show again, sigh!

Have downloaded The Luminaries but not yet opened it. Hope it's as good as the December read.

Yes - she won the Man Booker with it at only 28! It's about gold-mining in NZ in 19thC - looks a good read, but long! One for your weeks at camp @Debs??
And thinking of having a 'duvet day' tomorrow (as the weather will be so awful) and reading Cuckoo's Calling ...

Thanks ladies, I shall download it to read on the long evenings alone! I have been to Hokitika and that coastline, about as far from the Pilbara as you can get and very beautiful.
I have enjoyed quite a few Booker Prize novels in recent years, especially Hillary Mantel.
Thanks.
