Re: DECEMBER BOOK CLUB

Hi All,
I'm halfway through Cuckoo's Calling and agree with all previous comments about the strong characters. Pleased to hear that there is a satisfying ending as the story seems really well thought out so far. This is the first book I am reading on my Kindle app so thanks Wendy Darling for the tip that it was £1.99 as the price encouraged me to take the plunge and buy online. The next download will be The Luminaries as we are flying to NZ in 2014 and I need a big book to read on the plane.

I managed to finish this in December, on the flight from Houston to Tokyo.

I really like Strike and Robin, too, so I hope it becomes a series. I figured out a few things on my own, but didn't figure out whodunnit.

Don't think it has been decided yet. Have now finished the book, loved it, and call me stupid or something but I'm still not sure why the investigation was requested in the first place. What did I miss?

Oooh er ! *rushing up from behind - a long way behind- TWO BOOKS behind* -

there were some suggestions for January's read up-thread from a couple of you - I know that one was The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton, but a couple of others as well .... If you want to repost any suggestions, 'please do' (in the now famous words of Dr Mosley   )

Meanwhile SOME of us will have to get on with some reading ...

And no more spoilers - or I might have to get @janeg on here with her wet fish to instill some order

JANUARY BOOK CLUB

Rawkaren posted a link to the Guardians book list and one of the books was The Thirteen Tale by Diane Setterfield. This was on BBC2 as a drama only a few days ago and I thought it was a very good story. I would imagine the book would have more depth and deserves a read.

Still enjoying Cuckoos Calling so no spoilers please!

Fasting today. I am Not Looking at the heap of chocolate boxes.
