Really enjoying eavesdropping in on you lot. Hope your hip is feeling better Gillymary and oh Sue, I am amazed at the way you are like a sponge, soaking up all this new information and then putting it into practice. I bet you can't believe those words are yours as you type them..... Courgette spaghetti? Vegetable bolognese? I find it really difficult to get my head around these (to me) new concepts and change of lifelong eating habits, more veg, less white carbs being the key. Keep on enjoying these new foods, I'm sure that you will start losing again soon, it will be salad weather before you know it

Morning @jools7 @Sue.Q @daydreamer21
Looking forward to a chilled out weekend, already been on forum for a while and have some recipes copied. Find a nice note book Is a good way to keep my recipes I want to try. I have tagged so many that process is out of control. Checking out falafel and am going to google making my own tofu
My hip jools thanks for asking, well it is feeling less painful but I haven't taxed it. Head to the gym today but no HIT just lightly paced moving on elliptic and seated bike and lots of stretches. Also soooooooo looking forward to my next osteopath appt in 10 days as know my hip and consequently spine are out of plumb and she works miracles
Agree about exercise can't do without it now mine is only gym and walking, not bad for a former person who didn't do any. Thinking yoga still fr better stretches
Sue thinking positives and sending them your way. What are the clothes and tape measure saying

Hi @Wendy Darling lovely to see you. The recipes for veg lw carb are fantastic on this forum and very yummy to eat
Hi and thanks @Wendy DarlingWell my courgette spaghetti and bol sauce was a lovely meal very tasty and filling the next night I made a veggie bhuna this was good but will tweak it with few more spices next time thanks for the tag on the celeriac roulade I've bought another today the only problem was my meal was high veggie carb but at least they're good ones, had a treat tonight lamb chops with mixed veg and celeriac + turnip mash.
Strangely enough I have a salad everyday of the week I did expect to swap to soup for the winter but that never happened and I'm still enjoying them.
@gillymary Hope you're resting your hip at least slightly don't get overdoing things, completely forgot to measure this morning but will do in the morning, yes I did say I felt "thinner" so my outfit today felt good, funnily enough my bra fit lovely everywhere but keeps riding up at front I've never had that for a log time and yes they're all new so maybe that something to ponder on. Truthfully I couldn't care less what the scales say it's my clothing and my body and inner self so if I dropped another dress size that would do for me.
Exercise @jools7 No I'm not doing enough deffo.
I have let life get in the way this year and although I'm walking a couple of times per week it isn't the 8-11k x 3 or 4 days that I'd built up to last year but I did reset my tracker and was surprised to see the difference in calorie allowance that hadn't entered my head at all before, I have a very "chilled" life with absolutely no problems at all just that one bit of family stuff that is taking up a little time at the moment but drawing to a close hopefully in the next 2/3 weeks, I sleep like a log wake up refreshed, I weigh-in weekly normally wondering whether to jump on again tomorrow or Mon just to see what the difference is, I thought I'd hit the plateau last year but it was nothing like this ( now 11 weeks since my lowest ).
I reduced my carbs and assumed that's what kickstarted the loss again but who knows because it seems that was more like a blip or stall.
Have a lovely weekend everyone Sue

@Sue.Q you see I believe, what it is we find out, those of us who do have the blips and struggles, will eventually be very important for others. So it is wonderful you log here your particular twist on things.
Thanks for the kind words I will take it easy but from being more active I know it is my best interest to move this body of mine and keep everything well oiled so to speak. So no going like the clappers today just steady go at things listening to my body as I go

It's lovely to see you all supporting each other.
What I like is that conversations seem to continue on, which I find supportive.
I will have to think of a way to get into a similar situation. I'm gonna have to put up a profile in the buddy site - I'm thinking a 6-some (the number research says is the best for group energy and support)
Inspiring you 4.
Jo xx

Hello my dear fasting buddies. I have only been home about an hour and I am shattered so I will catch up on this all tomorrow, just wanted to say howdy and that I haven't forgotten you @Sue.Q@jools7 and @gillymary night night ladies
hello, foursomers! Should I keep tagging everyone, or do we all look here often enough not to need it? Or do you enjoy the buzz of getting "3 new messages"?
Welcome home, @daydreamer21! Hope you had a great trip!!
Thanks for the Donna Hay tip, gillymary. I just ordered a couple of hers from the Book Depository - MUCH cheaper than her website (like $30 instead of $40) and free postage! One on new fast food, another on "no time to cook" including freezable ones, which I was asking for on the forum yesterday. And I ordered a hard copy of Steve Boutcher's 20 x 3, I reckon he deserves the cash, it's been so eye-opening for me.
Beautiful sunny day in Melbourne today, lovely and cool! I think summer has finally burnt itself out, thank goodness! It only took a few plants in the garden with it, notably some correas, oh, well! I'm also relieved not to have to leap out of bed to water the garden. When I finish here, I'm going to finally plant my late beans and spinach.
Sue.Q, courgette (we call them zucchini) spaghetti sounds wonderful - I probably missed the link, but what kind of implement do you use to make it? Does sound yummy!! I'm trying to be a bit lower carb, with variable success.
I had a good day yesterday, had a much better fast day, and a lovely ride. This morning I even managed a HIIT session before breakfast, which my blood sugars loved. As I said in the HIIT string, I think I'm getting much more fat adapted - I'm so happy I can ride 40 km without hitting the wall like I used to and requiring copious carbs to refuel. Hoorah! Things going in the right direction!!
Hope everyone is going well!

@@Jo05 lovely to hear from you, please feel free to chip in anytime.
I do agree it is nice to keep a conversation flow happening which was what we wanted for our group and why created our own buddy thread. We also did a fair bit of PM'ing in the set up phase to get consensus before we launched. That is interesting about a group of 6. Have to say it is lovely to have this thread to check in on. We all buddy up in many different ways though across this forum don't we? I have other lovely buddies as well and I find the PM such an excellent way to connect as well. Why don't you just PM likely buddies for a bigger group. Sounds exciting.
Hi @jools know what you mean about the tag effort, But it does make it easier to locate the thread but I am flexible as to drop the tagging as it makes it faster to put in a message. I usually just go into active posts to locate. What do you think @Sue.Q @daydreamer21
Am doing at least a 18:6 today and have already made the aromatic lamb mogul curry and will adapt JO kedgeree from the new book. Just felt like being the alchemist in the kitchen today. Having a recharge weekend psychologically where I am trying to just schlep around doing whatever takes my fancy. It is morphing into housework, ironing, pedicure, walk dog and gym later as missed yesterday. It's great to have already done an interesting dinner with no thoughts to content just an elaborate concoction from my fridge spice jars and pantry. So pleasant

sounds lovely, gillymary! I call it pottering, a really lovely state of mind. Oh the fish kedgeree! it was one of the first ones I wanted to make, but I got put off by having to source the smoked fish - I don't think Aussies tend to have white smoked fish, do you think? Let me know how it goes, o alchemist!
Modifying is leaving out the fish and instead adding small dice of carrot, beans and zuc. So will have to adapt his recipe a bit but half the fun. Just felt my creamy aromatic lamb deserved more than plain rice and might be a good separate dish in the future
Love being in my kitchen cooking up a storm and don't feel like I have spent much time in it lately just bashing out quick meals so today is a luxury and yes am happy just pottering about.

Hi fasting buddies I've just returned from a walk not to long but a start at least and I'm about to start preparation for our roast chicken dinner tonight, for some reason I've bought in sweet potatoes to retry and just checked out and found they're high in calories + carbs was thinking of a soup starter plan B I think
Welcome back Sammy hope you enjoyed your time with Jamie hope your mum doesn't stress you out today before you return to work tomorrow.
Jools because i hadn't tried the courgette ( zucchini) spaghetti before I just used a very sharp knife I think a peeler would work also, I think there's a few gadgets around the meal was lovely far better than the next nights bhuna curry but I'll be repeating both plus I fancy a mushroom stroganoff this week I'm thinking the courgette spaghetti or just leave as ribbons would go well and with the green edge on it making it look "pretty". If you put it into the search box a few options come up and it cooked very quickly ideal as a work day quick fix, as for your freezing meals I do an extra portion quite often of whatever I'm cooking up for when I'm eating out with ex work colleagues a quick fix for the OH, just the base part of chilli, curry, lasagna + the meat base for meat+potato pie or steak + ale pie, I also freeze homemade pastry in individual portion sizes for a speedy evening meal.
Hope your hip is on the mend gillymary I agree resting up to much actually makes us seize up and that not good this time last year I was very immobile and having phisio because of some damage done while I was just walking didn't even know it had happened I woke up next morning and could barely get out of bed never mind do a walk this went on for months so I'm very keen to build my walks back up to the stage I was at late last year, then hopefully look into joining the gym.
After my disappointing weigh in on Fri I've gone into the refeed for 3 days basically because I don't know what else to try however all the advice on the forum says sit it out + wait so starting with tomorrow's fast this is the last refeed I'll do this time and concentrate on 2 good fastdays. Sue

Happy Sunday @gillymary,@Sue.Qand @jools7
Hope everyone is well today. It's nice to be home and having a relaxing day although I miss Jamie terribly. My week away was sort of mixed. I enjoyed being with Jamie, didn't enjoy being around some of his customers. For the first time in our 2 and a half year relationship I felt homesick, so I was happy to come home yesterday. While I was away my new bedframe arrived so I had a lovely new bed to snuggle into when I go in last night and I'm totally having a pajama day today. I actually successfully completed another week for 4:3 although Friday my calories were split over 2 meals which I don't normally do as I find it hard to keep track of the calories that way but I think all 3 days were under 600, 2 definitely under 500 so I was really happy about that! Jamie fasted with me on Monday and Wednesday, he struggled a little but he did manage to have a reduction in calories for these two days and he said he weighed himself and had lost half a stone which he was chuffed about. The other days, we were quite naughty, lots of sweet things (which I don't normally do on my feed days) and fruit juices. When I got home last night I ate dinner quite late and it was kinda carb heavy but when I weighed myself this morning I was only 500g up from when I weighed last weekend, so I'm sure I have lost some this week but I won't actually know until me normal weigh-in day.
@gillymary I'm sorry to hear about your hip, how is it feeling now? I wish I could join all you ladies with working out. Before I went away I had an appointment with the musculoskeletal clinic for my back and they are sending me for a surgical consultation! The gentleman there basically said my back won't get better without surgery which scares me. I've asked to be referred back to physiotherapy to see if it helps this time (last time it made it worse). Our local pool has closed down for refurbishment and won't open again until the late summer, so I can't even practice my hydrotherapy exercises. I wish I could run, I'd love to do the couch to 5k but my back affects my lower back, inner hip, legs and feet. I'm thinking of joining a local yoga class to see if it helps, and because I'm that much lighter now I should find it a little easier.
I feel quite proud of myself, in the next week or so (hopefully) I will have lost a total for 5 stone since starting to lose weight!! and a stone and a half of that would have been because of fasting. I went shopping this week and had a great surprise. I can fit into UK size 16 tops!!! I had been wearing 18 but now I can fit into 16's. I was soooo happy. And then I met one of my dream goals, I went into Gap and bought a pair of jeans from them and they fit, although slightly snug I know in a few weeks they'll fit perfectly!
Anyway, sorry for my ranting. I hope you all had a great weeks and I wish you all the best for next weeks fasts. Another week of 4:3 starting tomorrow.

Hi buddies
Yesterday I did 21:3 as wasn't planning on serious fast due to making the curry and intending an evening meal. Enjoyed my curry immensely. Got a 10 out of 10 from my darling. We both had seconds. @jools7 the kedgeree is interesting that it doesn't have salt and it doesn't need it either which I am impressed with. I forgot with my alchemy comes a very messy kitchen ugh.
Thanks everyone for your queries re my hip @daydreamer21 got to test it out by walking Max our dog, he was well behaved and didn't try to walk me as per usual, he usually dashes off to smell things and is a big boy so I end up being pulled from pillar to post. He must have sensed he needed to be gentle, but I was more alert as well with 'heel' commands. Hip withstood the onslaught and not so bad after sweet sound sleep, yea.
@Sue.Q you do have to watch sweet potato as is higher than white ones in carbs, I so miss my sweet potato, I substitute carrot and pumpkin which I think is squash for you with half the carbs. @caitlinsaid something that really hit the spot for me in a thread that we are in carb think mode. Some Cecilia Brooks Brown ideas would be lovely with your baked chook like creamy celeriac gratin. Am reading CBB book at present which I borrowed from library. Afraid will have to purchase it now it is a nice book

@daydreamer21 so well done with 5 stone loss, wow.
It is a problem when you have back issues. I don't know what yours are but. my back is pretty stuffed from injury. I have found with proper guidance from various practitioners such as osteopath physiotherapists and exercise physiologist and GP supporting same and I have managed to get an individualised workout which I follow. Well did, my hip problem stems from HIT without the proper stretches, me thinks and that is drat. So on the one hand it is great to exercise but you do need to know your limits and which modality will be the best due to your specific issues.
I took a while to find the right formula as I find if I don't move at all that is much worse. All the best finding what works for you
