I just finished a wonderful book (West End Girls, by Jenny Colgan) and started one that also seems great (Sweet Shops of Dreams, also by Jenny Colgan).

West End Girls was fab and the Sweet Shop is very promising. I love reading books (one might say that I have a tendency to chick lit and happy/fun ones) and I usually choose good ones but I can't be happy enough when I read/finish a wonderful one.

My favourite author is Sophie Kinsella (I'm a shopaholic myself and her shopaholic series seemed like they were written for me) and I wish she wrote one book per month.

Anyways, I just wanted to share my joy with you and ask you... of you know a book that is full of fun and London, do tell! Although I am always on the look out for them, perhaps I've missed a few.
From Notting Hill with Love....Actually by Ali McNamara is a fun rom-com novel set around London... especially if you know your films too - the central character is a romantic film buff so that adds an extra dimension.

I've just finished the sequel From Notting Hill to New York... Actually!
Lisa Jewell, Adele Parks ... Some others might occur to me in a bit ...
Jojo Moyes, Marian Keyes ... Emily Barr ... Jane Green ... Dorothy Koomson ...
Wow, thanks girls!

I've read all Marian Keys books and I was looking towards Jane green recently!
A big thumbs up from me for all the authors mentioned above. Jill Mansell writes brilliantly too...
Hi TML i love to read too
I cant think of any ive read recently set in London, but i am going to london in a few days,,to stay with my daughter and son in law for a few weeks
Are you an expat Londoner? X

Enjoy   sorry can't help with the books only just getting back into reading. Enjoying yourself are you :clover: :clover: Sue
I'm not an ex-pat Londoner but I am a forever London lover. I've been there more times than I can count. Would you write a book for me while you're there? Puleeeez? :-)

Thank you all for your suggestions. I am placing an order on Amazon soon (just waiting for The World According To Bob to be available in used paperback) so I will include some of them.
Me too T..i adore London..i lived there in the seventies!
I love visiting my daughter in London and i wd move there to be close to her,but her hubs job could take them anywhere,so for now i stay in my home town!
Ps Maybe i could write a book about my wild London life in the seventies!
I' ll keep my eye open for any Londonbased fiction that you might enjoy x
Have just been to see a film set mainly in London, partly in Cornwall.called About Time and starring the divine Bill Nighy! A bit corny but funny too and touching..plus lots of lovely London scenery!
I've just finished Jodi Taylor's 'Just one damned thing after another' and would recommend it as a great escapist read. It is funny and fast paced with action, history, romance, and is totally different from anything else I have read. I got it free on Kindle, but it's now £1.98. Well worth it - I laughed and cried and that doesn't happen very often :D
Ooooooooh I canny wait for About Time to reach Greece!!! Love Actually is my favourite film, so I'm sure I'll love this one too.
YES! You should write a book about your crazy London life!

Jodi Taylor noted, although I only read real books.
I was a 'real book' reader until I installed the Kindle app onto my iPad. Suddenly, I had access to free kindle books - there's loads of them, especially new authors trying to establish themselves. With a bit of time reviewing reviews (not my best English, but it is Sunday night!) I've had some very pleasant reads and some really outstanding ones, but all enjoyable. And all for free! I'd recommend it, but I have to be strict and ration my reading time or the family would go unfed, the house uncleaned....you get the idea ;)
Carole Matthews and Cecilia Aherne also write some lighthearted, escapist books - not London based though. Just read Sophie Kinsella's I've Got Your Number which was entertaining. She also writes as Madeleine Wickham but they are a different style, as you would expect - using a different name. Also like Sheena O'Flanagan - but they are Dublin-based, not London. For me there are times when only chicklit will do

I cannot not read, have to have something on the go. A good book has been known to delay dinner.

Ooops I meant Sheila O'Flanagan not Sheena
I used to be a real bookworm but just haven't had time for years. When I do find the time I really like lighthearted easy reads. I have just read the two 5:2 book club reads, neither would be my usual cup of tea. I have a kindle and kindle app on my iPad and I load them up with free and cheap reads that I don't know when I will have time for. I am currently reading 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' for the first time.

I have recently downloaded this and have just started it
