Re: Is your bra comfortable?

I refuse to wear uncomfortable bras anymore. I won't buy anything with underwire. This left me with choosing from the plainer, more sporty bras in the shop. After gaining a bunch more weight my chest swelled to a 44DDD. At that point I found the only thing comfortable enough to wear all day was a real sports bra. The kind I can jog in. So I wear Champion Running Bras all the time.

I also have a small problem with my ribs, since I have a rotational scoliosis. I see the chiropractor regularly for treatment. But when my ribs are bothering me one of the symptoms is that my bra feels very uncomfortable. It took me a while to discover that the problem was actually not the bra but my rib cage. DOH! So when it is really bad I call in to the Chiropractor for an emergency appointment.

When I worked I took my bra off the minute I got into the house on my return even before putting the kettle on. :like:
In retirement I took them off in the evening when I expected no visitors.
Since 4:3 for 23 weeks I now leave on all day & evening coz there very baggy & comfortable the everyday bras I have, these do now need replacing. but I have had to buy 3 new ones for best but it won't be long before these become too big, but to answer question 2 the new ones leave a ridge of what I've always called '' back fat '' I really can't give this a pet name because I've always hated it so much  Sue :clover:

Mine is whipped off the minute I walk through the door! Bravissimo girl here, cost me a fortune but have always fitted so well, can't usually get my size anywhere else anyway. Even if I have to shop later I'll put it back on although they do fit much better than before 5:2/4:3. I was a 38HH and have shrunk to a 36H. I'm doing the Couch to 5K so spend more time in my sports bra than a normal bra at home!

Annoyingly, I never seem to lose much around the bust area, I'm always around a 32FF.

Mine are comfy and fit well, but I do enjoy free boobin' at the end of the day. Ahhh bliss!

I am a big fan of the As Seen on TV bras... the Genie bra and the Ahh bra. These are so comfortable that not only do I not take them off immediately; I actually sleep in them. They are not expensive, I first got them at Walmart in the ASTV aisles. They were $20 for two. Now wm actually makes a knock off that is $6. Seriously, $6 and they are so comfortable I sleep in them so I don't have to take off my Fitbit at night. I have changed bra sizes three times since I started losing weight and I don't feel like spending BIG $$ on in between size bras. These bras come in S M L XL 2X 3X, etc instead of the crazy strap and cup sizes.

I do exactly the same as 43tweaker and change out of my day bra when I get home into my lounging around Carriwell (meant for pregnant ladies to wear overnight but so comfortable I'd recommend them to anyone with slightly more up top). I read an article once where Geri Halliwell said her Spanish mother had always taught her to wear a bra at night to keep her boobs in better shape. I have definitely found since losing some weight that I have a whole Dolly Parton thing going on. Looking on the bright side I suppose it helps make the waist look a little neater. I love my Fitbit so much, I'd feel undressed without it!

I weighed my girls one day and was flummoxed at the weight of each of them and no wonder I have spent a small fortune on chiro / osteo over the years as my mid back goes out so easily and it is the weight. I would not dream of sleeping in my underwire bra but that is a good point 43 tweaked and oncewasgloria as I do have an ahh bra. Funny post this and informative.

Japanese bras are really gross and pointy so when I needed new ones after losing weight I bought them online. I used an online fitting guide I can't remember where. I went down a back size and up a cup size (evidently it's automatic to go up a cup size as you go down a back size if your boobs stay the same size) I bought some bras from Leia lingerie. They fit really nicely. The biggest problem now is because of my broken arm I have to do up the clasp before I put them on. It's much easier with bras and clothes that are too big for me!

I'm wearing the same size bra as pre 5:2, but have noticed it's now on the last hook. Cup size hasn't altered as far as I can tell  Agree re M and S fitters :curse: The best fitter I had was in a little independent shop in Alnwick - and she just looked and told me the right size, which was larger cup but smaller band :victory: She explained that most women made the mistake of having too big a band (which is what makes it ride up the back if not the correct size as Marybeth says, the right size should sit quite low on your back - this then gives you the best support apparently) the fitter also said that a good well made bra shouldn't dig in anywhere, and I must admit she was right. So it is worth trying quite a few, but I have found mostly that the best fitting are the more expensive ones  I take a 36C so it might be different for those with different band/ cup sizes, but think we'll all have to keep checking we've got the right size if we continue to lose weight: it's one of the more boring / irritating side effects...

(But hey :talktothehand:  ... Maybe someone ought to tell chloe lambert :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: )

Julieathome wrote: I find the M&S fitters to be awful. But the advice on the Bravissimo website is brilliant. You just have to make a decent guess and try on the sizes and go up and down through the cups until you find one that sits right and doesn't cause bulges. In fact I supposedly have gone down a back size but up a cup size.
Then mid month I can be a totally different cup size.

I gave up with wearing bra's full time years ago. I let them swing free at home whenever possible. I fully expect to have spent hundreds of pounds by the time I get to my goal weight just on bras.

I agree, M & S just didn't have the right size for me. I also go to Bravissimo at Coventry Garden where the fitting service is excellent and the sales women really understand the variables. I won't go anywhere else now. Because I have lost weight, I find that I have gone down a couple of sizes in the cup fitting but decided to go up a size in the back fitting - the bra is now a perfect fit and comfortable and, importantly for me, no fat line across the back.

I have moved back to Australia and when I was in London this year, I went back to Bravissimo to stock up. I'll have to check out their web service because they said they will ship to Australia. Here's hoping.

52 solved my rib biting bra problem. Discovered Genie bra just prior to 52 and it was great but I'm okay now cause the upper back fat was the first to go.

I have no bra that fit right anymore....but I do not have boobs anymore too. I must be a 32A or something like that but I do not know fore sure. The band on my 34 are so loose that my bra ride up when I lift my arms.....man I really have to go shopping for a new bra and new boobs
