I am in London on these dates to look after my granddaughters for a couple of days. However they will be at school all day and I am wondering whether anyone fancies a coffee/ lunch on either day. either in central London or the Forest Gate/Stratford area.

Hi Merlin! Checking work commitments - can do central but not north if during the daytime. I'll come back to you shortly.
Merlin, yes, I can do either 10th or 11th for coffee or lunch in central London if that fits you and others. Is the Victoria line best for you coming in from WF? What fits you best time wise, as you need to get back in good time.
@Ssure hooking you up to see if you are free to meet up with Merlin while she is in town.
That's great @Lizbean either day is going to be OK for me. I need to be back for the girls by 3 pm . It is the Northern line from Stratford I think. I know it goes through Bank and Totenhamcourt Road. Don't know where it goes after that until I consult a tube map as we change there for Euston! I think I can also get the jubilee line and the cable thingy in Stratford as well.
You can tell I let son and DIL organise us when we visit!
I was thinking late morning coffee cake/ light lunch type thig-nothing too formal.

I would if I wasn't at work still.
Have a great time and check out that wonderful Westfield shopping centre while youre there Merlin. If you haven't already.

I'm in Central London so should be free as long as I haven't scheduled the surgery - I'd be pleased to meet up
Hi @Merlin that's great, if you are departing from Stratford there is the central line which takes you right into town (yes it goes via Bank and Tottenham Court Road). My nearest tube is Chancery Lane (also central line). @Ssure it would be great if you are able to join us, would a venue near a central line tube work for you? Merlin, we can set a time for early coffee/light lunch that makes sure you are back in good time to collect the girls at 3pm. @Carieoates next time! Perhaps a London weekend meet up in 2015 ....
A venue near the Central Line is fine for me
Sounds good @Lizbean@SSure, a venue near Central line would be good- you'd better choose, my knowledge of London venues is roughly zero.
You'll gather I got my tube line names in wrong order, it's Northern from Tottenham Court road to Euston.

@Merlin @Ssure - I'll put my thinking cap on re a venue, Ssure please chip in if you have ideas.
Anyone else up for joining us?

There are considerably more glamorous venues but for a clean place where you can talk and get a table with relative ease, it's hard to beat the Oasis Cafe in Salvation Army's Regent Hall, 275 Oxford Street, London, W1C 2DJ:
http://www.salvationarmy.org.uk/regent-hall
It's open from 10am-4pm and good for coffee or a light lunch.

I might be able to make it too - depending on work commitments xx
@Merlin@Ssure thanks, venue looks good to me - always like to go somewhere new. It would be great if you can make it@Madcatlady. Off for a potter round the forum, I'm on catch up after a busy week ....
Sounds fine to me, have narrowed the date down to Thursday 11th as son wants to buy me a ticket for school Christmas dinner with the granddaughters on the Wednesday!
