Well @callyanna, the truth is I am really bored and under utilised at work so I may as well spend the time improving my mind while I look for other jobs. And anyway, this is taking my mind off of eating

Brilliant idea! Thank you! Am going to have a look. I work from home and am bored stiff currently so these would do nicely.

Wow, Human Evolution, this is so different. So far I've just watched the introduction video and info about the course and already I'm hooked, I can take the measurements of my foot which will go onto a database and compared to the 3.6 million year old Laetoli footprints in Tanzania. I can take an impression of a tooth (with chewing gum) and compare it with the rest of the class to look at human variation.

I might try the activities on this course but whether I'll get as far as the statement of accomplishment I'm not sure. I haven't even started on the video lectures yet.....

I did a social psychology course with Coursera last year and am tempted by many others. However there is the small matter of a degree to finish first (OU) before I enrol for any more!

MIT in the US put all their courses online. You can't get certification for the courses but you can go over all their material.

For the people who feel that they aren't using their PC's to full effect there is this course. I like it because its visually orientated rather than a reading course.
http://www.teach-ict.com/videohome.htm but you can also do the plain reading bit as well.

Then there is Alison .. http://alison.com/

I have pages and pages of links to online learning courses. I was/am a Home Educating parent. The last time I provided links to my online learning list the print out took 18 pages with a web page per line , double spaced.

If you feel that your maths needs a polish, or other subjects, I highly recommend https://www.khanacademy.org (you don't have to sign in to browse, just go to the bottom of the page and click on the bottom bar links) Its like having a brilliant teacher in the room that is willing to go over and over a problem with you till you get it, with no pressure to keep up with everyone else.

Thank you very much Coffeetime for the idea & links. I love learning new things but I also don't want to return to OU formal learning. I am currently enrolled for local FE courses but it does become expensive on a pension keeping on doing them even with an age discount!
Thank you also Julie for your links I will look at them all. :like: :like:
I have just enrolled for the Inside Cancer course on future learn

Thank you for the links Julie, although there aren't enough hours in the day to fit in all of the courses I would like to do, I've had limit the amount I enroll in. In February and March I'm doing five at once and six for two weeks, if I'm disappointed in any of them then I will cancel to make more time for the others.
My new mantra - I must stop looking at new courses, I must stop looking at new courses....

@coffeetime, thanks for this I've never heard of it before. When the kids were wee and I wasn't working I started an OU degree but after a couple of years. due to lifestyle changes. I needed to get a job which meant I just couldn't continue with the OU. I couple of years ago I did the ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) for my own piece of mind. I love learning new stuff but I don't often do much with it. I've bookmarked this to look into later. Thank you.
