MOOCs are great aren't they?

Also if you want something brain-rich without the commitment to a course have a look at The Open University's open learn site where you can find tons of interesting material including background to many of the TV programmes they co-produce and additional information in the form of articles, interactive explorations, quizzes etc.

I'm enjoying the two I've started and I've signed up for another two next week Exploring Our Oceans and Global Poverty, then two weeks after that Understanding Europe and more after that - I got a little carried away in my excitement.....

Our orientation speaker at work last week was Cable Green from Creative Commons (creativecommons.org). He would be fascinated in how many people are exposed to MOOC's through informal networks like a thread on a forum like this. MOOC's make all knowledge accessible to everyone, an exciting idea! I digress, at his website, there are also more links to additional sites with free stuff. Not just courses, but materials in case you're still actively teaching - as if you don't have enough already! Thanks @coffeetime for sharing this.

I am into the second week of Inside Cancer on Future-learn that is fascinating. I have always wondered about the genetic links because of having Breast Cancer & my Mother & her sister dying from it. The course will also be detailing current research & possible routes to better treatment that seemed to be much more limited when I was treated 12 years ago.
There are many other interesting courses that really can just consist of reading or watching a video online & if you wish commenting about it.
