I am fine with whatever time and arrangement, so will wait to hear from others.
Re cake shops, I do think Brunetti's in Carlton can't be beaten, though St Kilda is a more interesting place to visit, and if the day is nice, anyone with time could have a walk to the beach. If we stay in the city, there are no doubt a few choices. I have seen a cafe/cake shop where people often have to queue to get in, so presume it is nice (Block Arcade??)

@Sassy1, @carmelk46, @chinchin, @Maggiee. I'd love to explore the Carlton cake shop! Any where in Melbourne is exciting for me! What about times? Any requests? Any time anyone can't make? I can't do the evening as I have a date with my sister and cousins on Friday night.

Yes, I can make tea and cake and a walk on the beach - but unfortunately I'm in London, which is the wrong side of the world.
Wishing you all a fabulous Melbourne meet up!  x

Hi All
Sorry for the delay in replying but have been away travelling for a week.
I am looking forward to our meetup but don't have any suggestions for a cafe.
Sallyo's idea of meeting under the clocks and travelling to St Kilda seems like a good idea.
I don't know how to tag but this should bump this chat up the line a bit.
Cheers Carmel

Looking forward to it.

Where are we all coming from? Is the Flinders Street clock the most central location? What time? Shall we say, 11am? 2pm? Earlier? Later? I am at your disposal as I haven't made any other arrangements on that day and I won't until I have a firm time.
I am coming from Brunswick.

I will be coming from Wattle Glen on the train so Flinders Street clocks would be fine for me.
11 would be a good time for me.
Cheers Carmel

Excellent. We'll make it 11am under the Flinders Street clocks and then we can decide where to go next. I can't wait. All I have to do is fast next Thursday while I am in Melbourne so that I can hold my head up proudly when I see you all.

How I would love to be able to join you all or even be a fly,on the wall! I will be thinking of you wishing you a great time together. :like:

Hi all, @Sallyo, @Maggiee, @Carmelk46, @Chinchin, I didn't check the forum yesterday - had a lovely busy day so no time! It did involve a lot of eating tho...!!!

Maggie and I are going to travel in together by train, so all sounds good re meeting up. We have met Carmel, and assume Sally looks like her photo, so only chinchin who will need to find us (assuming she is still coming as I don't think she has posted here recently??).

Are there any other Melbournites we could give a shout to? @Chook and @Zamale, though I haven't noticed posts from them recently. I know there are others - there was someone new I mentioned the Melbourne meet to, but I can't recall her name. :(

PS Carmel, to tag you have to be in the "full edit" reply mode, not the quick reply. Above the reply box are a range of blue formatting and menu buttons. Highlight the person's name, and then select the 'tag' button. And before you submit your reply, select preview, so that you can check the tag worked - eg you haven't mispelled the name. If it worked, there will be an @ symbol before the name, and the name will be colored. Hope that helps for next time! :)

PPS Sally, I imagine a few of us intend to fast on Thursday! :D

Hi I would love to meet up with all of you however I would be travelling down from Mansfield (NE Vic) on the bus and it doesn't get into Southern Cross Station until 10.30am. I should be able to get to Flinders Street Station by 11.00am. Would you hang on for me until say 11.15am just in case?

@Georgina, @Maggiee, @Carmelk46,@chinchin, @Sassy1

How fabulous, Georgina! We will certainly wait for you. I'm not sure I will recognise everyone. I shall wear red.

I had a PM conversation with @kelkelkelster who lives in Melbourne and referred her to this thread but she isn't able to come this time.

Hi @Georgina, it will be lovely to meet you and of course we will wait for you. It shouldn't take long to get from Southern Cross to Flinders. Lots of suburban trains will be going that way, so just catch one of those. Your Vline ticket covers the cost of that... Chances are that Maggie and I will be on a train that goes round the loop that way too :) but if you want to walk, it would only take 20 mins. Tho I guess your concern might be that your train runs late??

@Maggiee, have just checked the train tt and the train that reaches Flinders at 10.51 leaves Bayswater at 10.03. I will be on third carriage - near middle of train - and will look out for you. :) Do you have a Myki card? @Sallyo, will you have access to a Myki card - I think you do have to have one to travel.

I am sure we will find each other. I have no idea what I will be wearing. The forecast for Friday is 22C with 30% chance of showers... That's Melbourne summer for you!!
