I love doing crafts, painting, candle making, sewing, going to junk shops and finding bits n bobs to do up. Im starting a quilting course in september, Im going to have a go at an American style patchwork. Also,I was given a hook to make a rug with but I have no idea how to use it, prehaps one day I'll figure it out
Gosh, I remember a rug making craze that took off, oh, in the mid 70s maybe? Everyone was doing it for a while!
I would like to have a go at rug making one day, my nana used to sing a song about 'hooky mats' and 'proggy mats' think it must of been a geordie thing!! it would be good to have a go at one of them. The hook I have is in a little box that looks like something from the 50'S !!
Oh those hook rugs were fun! I think I'd love to find a really absurdly kitschy one, like Elvis or something, and make it.
Couldn't find an Elvis one, but what about this?

Or someone possibly even more famous?

I’m not sure about the patience bit Bellalou & yes some of them can be fiddly but I find it very rewarding when I’ve finished it & it looks like it should. I am a member of Ravelry too & have downloaded loads of free patterns from there. I try & find things unusual hence the angler fish & gargoyle & I've found recently that I've been getting requests to make things for people & I get a lot of pleasure from knowing they like what I do.
I'm taking a beginners knitting class. Love it, so I've signed up for the intermediate one starting at the end of the month. My first project is a sweater/jumper for my 2 year old son. I'm about half-way done. Good way to keep hands occupied--and away from snacks--while watching TV in the evening!
LOL Carorees!
Found a bag of bobbly white wool at a charity thing, 50 centimes! New scarf starting this evening!
Not a knitter but I made this the other day

Well done!
Oh Tigs, I can remember doing those with my dad when I was a kid. He made one of a big pirate ship! LOL

That's really lovely Tigs33.
Nice to see a crafty thread! I can't knit anymore due to arthritic hands but I'm a prolific crocheter. I belong to a group called Cuddles and we supply the specialist bereavement midwives all around the UK with teeny tiny outfits and blankets for stillborn babies. Mostly I make crochet cribs for very early losses and some keepsake crochet shoes. I love Ravelry and can waste hours on there! I use the same id and have some projects on there.
It's great to find knitting is making a comeback! I knit, crochet, needle felt and paint watercolour pictures for children's rooms. Whenever I get my wool out, my husband rolls his eyes. A friend in the school playground has just started knitting, and if she gets stuck, she brings the knitting in for me to help/give a lesson. Today she had dropped three stitches in a large section, which resulted in a quick demo of picking up!

Crafts are a great way to take your mind off those fast day evenings. You are all a very talented bunch!
