Saturday good morning
23 Mar 2013, 08:48
Wonderful, sun is shining and it is much warmer. Front door is open for the first time this year so dog can come and go. He is really enjoying it. Plans for today.....gravel shifting this morning and clean out chickens and ducks, quick bacon baguette for lunch then off out on museum trip. All is well on the farm, chicks growing well although one keeps sitting on top of the brooder so think it may be a cockerel! My broody ducks are sitting nicely. The original Muscovy is sitting on 5 Rouen eggs and another of the Muscovy who went broody this week has collected 4 of her eggs and is now sitting. I am feeling more like getting out in the garden now, lots of bramble clearance to do and new fencing to put in.
Am keeping an eye on my elder trees as hope to get plenty of flowers for elder flower cordial. Have run out due to damage by frost last year. I have lost my damsons for this year due to last weeks snow but am hoping the cherries will come good. The apple and pear trees have buds so am hoping for a good crop. I love Spring and seeing the garden starting up again.

Saturday evening here in Sydney. My OH has just arrived in London on a business trip so I am home alone with the dog. Just settling down to watch Argo with my dinner and a glass of wine. I love this "diet"!

Hi Pilchards, I haven't watched it but you do know that the bit about the British Embassy in 'Argo' is not true don't you!? I think they just made it up to improve the story and get in a bit of Brit-bashing...

You are very lucky! It is snowy here, although we are suffering far less than many other parts of the UK. I have yet to venture outside but the hens can come and go as they please so I don't have to let them out. I will need to check that their water is not frozen though, so soon it will be boots , hat and coat time!

The rest of the day will be mainly concerned with looking after our two grandaughters. They have been living in Germany since September, so are not particularly impressed with our snow! Our daughter returns from her weeks skiing in Val d'Isere tomorrow evening and they all return to Germany on Wednesday evening, so we need to make the most of it while they are here.

Yes Dominic, I understand that they have been liberal with the truth and that the Canadians were also unhappy with the Hollywood portrayal which downplays the importance of their role too. Nevertheless it is a good movie and deserved the awards IMHO.

In other news the Americans won the War with no help from anyone else.

Very snowy here in norn irn- I didn't go for my park run this morning, partly because of the snow, but mainly cos I had to collect my dog from the vet, where he'd stayed overnight after needing a stitch to his back paw, and have a lump removed from his side. So he's home with the cone of shame, and has to go back on Tuesday to have the drain removed.

Here in France it is believed the Americans won ww2 conveniently forgetting what Britain and others contributed from the start. Always makes me smile!
Oh and sun still shining and gravel shifted!

Oh lucky you with sunshine! We have no snow but it is bitterly cold, grey and windy. I rushed through all the outside jobs first thing, putting out hay for the outdoor ponies, mucking out the indoor horse, feeding and letting out the chooks. I had B&B guests to feed next with a nice breakfast including home made lemon curd and fab poached eggs.
Not much temptation to do anything else out there so I'm off for a swim and a sit in the jacuzzi next then home to get the log burner going and read my Kindle.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Started the day with a 5k run in the fog (which has now lifted) and now waiting for my gîte guests of the season to arrive later today. They are all arriving from the UK and Ireland so hopefully will appreciate the sunshine here as the weather seems so appalling further north!

Snowing heavily here, followed by periods of light snow then back to heavy snow again. Chickens not impressed!

Don't we learn a different version of history in every country?
Warm and humid here in Athens, the perfect weather for my allergies!
Long weekend here and I plan to be lazy on every single day of it!!!

Well I only live about 20mins away from Bobshouse, so not surprisingly it's a lovely day here too !

So far have, fed horses & topped their water up, cleaned out the chicken house including taking all the nesting boxes out & cleaning them thoroughly too (chickens are SO messy!), raked all the gravel in front of the house into some sort of order (weird, bobshouse was doing gravel & chickens too!) washed all the dogs beds & cleaned the washing machine afterwards, defrosted the freezer & recommissioned it, washed and oiled the front porch, collected the chainsaw from the menders & done the shopping!!!

All duties done now, I'm going to go & play with the youngster (colt) - he's progressing nicely with Natural Horsemanship so play time is always special time - I do that as a treat when all else is finished :)

Looking forward to The Voice on French TV this evening, with the log burner lit & a nice glass of wine :)
