Hope that you don't mean that we will need a microscope to see Julie's sex toys...
Reading through all of these posts, while wiping away the tears from laughing, I thought of another hobby of mine. I have just started to make my own cold processed soap. There is about two more weeks of curing until I'll be able to tell how it turned out but so far so good.
And TML, I'm trying to take the high road but it is very hard.
I thought Moogie would get on this thread and scold us for being too naughty but having read her reply, clearly I do not know her. Again, my mind is wondering.

I am loving this thread, thanks for everyone replying.
I am envious of the horse and smallholding people. I grew up with horses and my mother currently fosters rescue ponies. I used to keep chickens and miss them, my landlady won't let me have any pets!
@bobbyd - soap is great, I have been playing with some pour and melt stuff to start off with. It is a lot of fun.

I thought I would dig up this old thread to find out what everyone is up to at the moment.
Recently I have been doing lots of overtime at work. With the extra money I treated myself to a new sewing machine. It has been on the kitchen table since it arrived! I have now taught both of my daughters to use it with much success. In Scotland the shops no longer give away polythene bags with your shopping so the three of us have been busy making fabric shopping bags. The girls are making lots for their friends for Christmas. Here is a picture of a couple of them. I made the leafy one and 13 year old daughter made the Paris one.
I hope you like them. I'm thinking about saving up for a tailors dummy as I used to make clothes when I was a teenager.
Since this thread was started we have had a lot of new people on the forum - so what are your hobbies.

Those bags are lovely @wildmissus, I have a sewing machine that doesn't get much use, so think I'll have a go at making a few bags in the new year. Last week I made tea tree soap for the first time. They look a bit ugly because I haven't got any soap moulds and used an old bread tin, just wanted to see how easy it is to make. Turns out it's very easy. I have to wait 3 more weeks before I can try it but it looks like soap and smells great. Anyone else made soap, any tips very welcome.
Love those bags @wildmissus
How exciting to make clothes! X must feel very satisfying x
@justdee those soaps must smell so fresh! Nice to know what all the ingredients are..none of those nasty additives.Teatree a great antiseptic too.x

@Candicemarie I bought a handmade bar from a craft market for DDs skin, it has worked wonders, she's almost spot free now. So thought I'd have a go. I used coconut oil, olive oil and veg shortening. It worked out at a fraction of the price per bar and I love that only good things have gone into it Can't wait to get some moulds and make different types. I would recommend soap making to anyone, very easy and quite fun.
@justdee, I have never tried soap making and I do love tea tree soap. I'm curious though, why do you have to wait 3 weeks?
I've just started taking our puppy to agility classes, could be posted as his intest not mine!
@wildmissus Lye is used to make the soap so you have to cut it and leave it for at least 4 weeks to cure. Can't wait to try it, I'm away for xmas so it will be almost ready when I get back
Lovely bags @wildmissus I have a passion for shoppng/tote bags. I like the idea of the soap making too @justdee
I am about to start a crochet blanket. Trouble is with me, is that I never finish anything so we will see what comes of this latest bright idea

If you have trouble finishing things @wendy darling maybe soap making is the hobbie for you. It only takes about 30mins to make and then takes care of it's self for the next 4 weeks, until ready Going to see if I can get good enough to make soap xmas gifts for next year.
