Re-read this post : have to smile. . . .so many similar bedside tables !! I scrutinised mine mid- afternoon , then realized there were some important additions later in the day :

Forgot to mention a glass of water (essential !) , a pink lidded Lego brick bought by my grandchildren , which houses all my "regalia" ( OH's description of my many rings , earrings and bits of Important Jewellery , changed on a daily basis ) . Then there are a few other bits and pieces such as contact lens case , Bus Pass , a favourite (discontinued ) lipstick I'm trying to eke out , unsuccessfully , using an ancient lipbrush. ( OH says , why don't you bin it and buy a new one? but of course he's missing the point . . . ) .
My bedside table's in front of a window so there's no escaping the harsh reality when I wake up . . . yikes !
( It's funny , haven't really given my bedside table much thought until now . . . . . ! )

Wow you guys all have a lot of stuff on your bedside table...I've got my kindle, a tissue and a hair elastic!
Fun topic!

Diary, kindle, Digital radio/clock/dock, block of note pad, pen, box of tissues, hand cream, reading lamp, day/night medication dispensers, glass of water, library book, two remote controls, and a wee bit of dust!

cheers
Maggie
Ok let's see
A lamp
A picture of my mum and dad when they were first married
A thing made by Min - I have no idea what it is but she made it so it must be on show!
A pen
Sleep mist
Handcuffs
Body cream
That's about it :)
Ha ha forgot to add my hand cream but handcuffs now there's a thing

Several novels including a Maeve Binchy I'm currently reading
Mat for mug of tea I never get in bed
Bottle of olbas oil
My mum's watch (she died just last month)
Lamp
Reading glasses
Dust!

Sorry to hear about your mum. Mum's are so special. I cried for months.

handcuffs? tell us more @gillymary
1. Touch base lamp which I would highly recommend. Mine is from John Lewis and has three light levels. The lowest is quite dim and is great if I get up in the night.
2. Kindle. Mine is a HDX which is fantastic.
3. Reading glasses
4. Mobile phone
5. Small clock
6. Bottle of water
On my bedside table is a piece of art that I use as a mat - Tanzanian art: https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/imag ... vKjVR7KsN4

On it sits:
1960's alarm clock (it was my brother's when he was a teenager)
lamp, tissues and water
a photo of my daughter when she was 6 (coming up to 26 now  )
'Tossed' recipe book (200 fab salads) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tossed-Fresh-Fa ... 1740454499
Charlie cat's medication - ouch!
Wow, popular topic!
Mine has 2 stacks of books, small alarm clock, Dr. Seuss phone, cordless phone, lamp, coaster.
I'm amazed how so much can fit on top of a bedside table for people. My alarm clock is sitting on top of a copy of "50 Shades of Grey". I stopped at the "good bit" not realising about all the S&M subject lines. Havent picked it up since.
I don't keep my books by my bed as I tend to read in the day and evening more. DH usually goes to bed before me so reading in bed is not going to happen.
Alarm/radio
Loo roll
House phone (also have one in living room and kitchen)
Remote for ceiling fan/light
Olbas oil

If I'm going to bed it also has my necklace, watch and glasses on it and my mobile phone if husband is on nights.
"Touch to turn on lamp" (great... no fumbling for switch)
Water bottle with clippy top/drink nozzle so no spills
Coaster
Collection of Sudoko's from newspaper with pen and biro
4 way electric socket extension for light, el blanket and chargers.
Some hand cream.
Small zipped bag with collection of small useful bits eg dental floss, tweezers, aspirin, throat lozenges, antacids, Germolene(now no more :( )cotton buds etc
On the bed is small battery radio with preset stations/clock and a box of tissues with lacy cotton cover. Across room is a digital clock.... too bright to have closer. On the floor somewhere is small 'notebook' computer.

I keep electronic stuff away from bed such as phones.
Oooh interesting post!

I have:

A light (touch lamp ftw)
my clock radio
a glass of water
(there might also be a couple of rings from a cup of coffee, this might shame me into cleaning it)
A book
