Mother actually likes it, though it had to laugh when my father told me a few years ago that mother was back on the gin, she has never had more than an occasional drink and never more than one. She had had one G &T at a friend's house!

Get back to the sandpit from the lovely Budapest tomorrow night
Doing Christmas early as diving daughter is off on the 23rd and beside us. She'll be working Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
So...
Buy food, cook food, find pressies, wrap pressies, decorate and be at work.
Something's got to give.
Ach, I've got plenty of champagne. It'll be fine!
But have you any kilted sausages??
Gin always gave me headaches
So became a smirnoff girl (she was the mainstay of the library ....

Think I'm coming to yours @PennyForthem
Love sloe gin and have a 5 year old bottle ready for xmas day and a dodgy 25 year old elderberry port resting in the kitchen
Done the food shop, bought all presents, still need to wrap up 3 more ( tomorrow)
Today I've been "spring cleaning" !!! do all women do this?
Washing on the line outside today, iron out tomorrow plus bedroom cleaning.
Making mince pies and quiches on Monday because I have
Family guests on Christmas eve for drinks and nibbles etc,
Will cook the turkey overnight on timer on xmas eve because I actually don't like the smell of it cooking
( weird woman).
No breakfast on xmas day for me or boxing day, every little helps, and no matter what I won't eat after 8-30pm throughout the silly season
Wine warming in the house, on target I think!!!! Sue

My last minute jobs=
-wrap my kids pressies,
-write last few Christmas cards neighbors and relatives I will see on the day.
-clear junk off piano , dust and put Christmas cards up.
-go to gym and get a gift voucher for my daughter.
- buy 3 mangos to put in kids Christmas stocking
- Christmas eve- make lots of baked mini raspberry cheesecakes and prepare Asian crunchy noodle salad to take on the day.
We've been told that Christmas at my sister in laws will be a dry one as her brother is an alcoholic and still pretty fragile. She said if it was a few years down the track we could drink but she didnt want to rub it in his face that we can have a drink and he can't which i can understand so our champagne will be chilling for when we get home.
Happy christmas everyone,
Xxx julianna

Things are under control here.
Turkey defrosting in fridge.
Christmas cookies baked, christmas cake baked.
All shopping done except for cherries that will be picked up on Mon am.
Menu for Christmas is planned out and have a checklist to work from.
Tonight bake chocolate cake and prepare Creme Parisienne on Monday. Put cake together on Tuesday night, final decorating will be done on Wed just before service.
Still need to wrap Christmas presents and do a quick tidy up before Wednesday.
I feel that everything is under control.
Eta, bake Hungarian beigli on Tuesday.

Thanks everyone - so interesting seeing Christmas preparations in different parts of the world!
Today, I'm making pate with brandy - I always give a pot to my friend, along with a jar of chutney. It's the only 'home made' things she eats!

Well its just the two of us this year so not alot to do. I ordered my bird in a bird in a bird on-line and it doesn't arrive until Christmas Eve (possibly risky). That will probably last us until Easter. OH has asked to keep it sensible food wise and as we don't eat sugar, I'm not making anything fancy either. So all I have to do is some last minute food shopping tomorrow. I shall prepare for trolley range
Pressies are already wrapped (and all delivered as our family are down south - we did the rounds yesterday). OH has gone out to buy mine this morning already...
Gosh that sounds really boring. However on gin, OH really likes that Rangpur stuff. Made by Tanqueray with rangpur limes. I used to like gin, but went off it a few years back. I don't mind the odd glass of vodka though, but will be sticking to wine and champers Christmas Day.

Much of this is tongue in cheek.
Today: finish wrapping pressies, wash last night's dinner off of the bedroom walls, catch up with forum posts, walk dog to village to deliver a card to my friend, pick up broken crockery from the bottom of the stairs, sort out hubby's medication, cook his dinner.
Monday: walk dog, food shopping, change and wash hubby's bedding, clean and dust sitting room, try to pick hubby up from the bedroom floor, sort out his medication, cook his dinner, catch up with forum posts.
Tuesday: walk dog, bath hubby, make sure he is wearing clean clothes, check that we have enough food and drink, pick up broken crockery from bedroom and kitchen floor, mop up mess from kitchen floor, visit our next door neighbours if hubby is able to stand up, sort out his medication, cook his dinner. catch up with forum posts, relax in front of TV.
Christmas day: walk dog, exchange pressies with hubby, cook dinner, a big welcome to my son, hopefully see my daughter and grandchildren, eat drink and be merry.
Boxing day: walk dog, my son will pick up my youngest granddaughter to stay for a few days, have fun with granddaughter, see my daughter and family if she couldn't make it yesterday, eat, drink and be merry.

Tongue in cheek or not @coffeetime my heart goes out to you
How on earth do you manage to retain a sense of humour with all the **** you have to put up with on a daily basis and still stay the lovely, caring person you are.
Look after yourself and I will be thinking of you especially. Hope you have a little respite over Christmas with your family's help.
Big hugs, Carol x

Thank you callyanna, it won't be as bad as I made out, there might be some shouting in the background but hubby is not so bad when the family are here.

Coffee time, I don't know how you do it and as Callyanna so rightly says, tongue in cheek or not etc.........
I did notice that your Christmas Day sounds reassuringly normal so I hope you have a great day with your family and you find peace in the New year, best wishes to you and your loved ones

On a different note, I have, at long last, found the lid to the gelatiera! yes! Whoo hooo.
Limoncello icecream is back on the Christmas menu!
