@pennyforthem ooooh, limoncello ice cream, mmmmm m, yes please.....

Ballerina x
I can't say that I really cope Penny, most of the time I let it wash over me. Instead of getting on with things I tend to ignore them - I suppose that is a way of coping.

I'm determined to have a good Christmas. Ooh I can be sly, I've made sure that there is no booze in the house, hubby is not able to get to the shop and even if he could he has no money to buy it. He's angry about it atm, but when he stops drinking for a day he feels ill - we should have peace and quiet for several days over Christmas.

So I'm not really a caring person.

You can't fool us, we KNOW you are a caring, warm person, so THERE!

Ballerina x
Of course you are a caring person! You care what happens to your husband and will probably deprive yourself in the process.
Right here goes.
I still haven't crowbarred the Turkey out of the fridge, my friends turned up and I totally forgot about it.
Everything, foodwise for Xmas day will be cooked on Xmas day. So no prep really.

I still have about 30 clothing items to wrap. My eldest son has lost some weight and is firming up so needs a complete new wardrobe. Its amazing what you can get off ebay, new, these days.

Apart from a last tidy and flick with the duster on Xmas Eve, I really am prepped for a change and thankfully I'm not stressing about it.

I may even try and persuade hubby to go to the pictures on Xmas Eve.
Hugs @coffeetime. In some ways I think you have a worse time than I do. At least my hubby is always cheerful about his condition and even getting him dressed is time for a giggle.
Banning alcohol from the house is a damned good idea. If it gets your real hubby back then its what you need to do. Be prepared for withdrawal symptoms, they are very real.

This is the latest video hubby and myself have done. (We review e-cigarettes) If you go back to the earliest we did you can see the weight difference.

@coffeetime i had no idea about any of this..
My heart goes out to you and i admire your ability to bring humour to a very challenging situation
I hope Christmas will be happy and peaceful for you and yr family and i hope that 2014 brings happier times for you and hubby x
OMG @Julieathome is that you? You look fantastic!
*rubs halo* yes, its me. I worked back to the earliest one I was in and I can finally see a difference. My face shape is now much less rounded and my arms are way less pudgy. There is still a long way to go, its getting there though.
Oh @Julieathome I can really see the difference since we met in the summer...you're doing great! congrats!
My Christmas countdown:

wrap a couple more presents
prep bread sauce ingredients (double boiler, breadcrumbs, onion studded with cloves, bay leaves, milk) to take with me to SIL who's hosting this year...slightly surprised she only asked me to help with that!
sort out air bed, bedding etc to take with us as sleeping on the floor at SIL's
deliver Xmas cards to neighbours
pack presents into boxes for transport
remember to pack items for DS's stocking
collect our turkey from farm shop (we always have a turkey for ourselves when we spend Xmas away otherwise we don't get any yummy leftovers)
work out what other perishables I need from farm shop that I need on boxing day (when I'll cook our turkey)
pack Xmas dress etc to take to SIL's
check traffic/weather forecast and calculate when we need to leave tomorrow so as not to be late for the Swedish part of our Xmas celebrations which will be tomorrow night

hmm all seems too easy...what have I forgotten?

edit: ah yes, clean out chicken coop, leave out cat food and leave present and card for lovely neighbour who'll be looking after the animals on Xmas day!

I still have the main shopping to do yet and am planning to do it either Monday or Christmas Eve. We can risk it then as there is nothing really essential that we need, or we can do without for the two days the shops are shut.

I think most of the big supermarkets are actually opening on Boxing Day yet to see the way people's trolleys are loaded up you'd think they were stocking up for a three month siege!
don't see the need myself for shops to open but I suppose once one does the other all follow suit.

Yep I have never understood that way of thinking - I find Christmas eating quite scary in the sense that I always (used to) worry that I'd go completely out of control (and often did) so why buy all that stuff?? Really don't get it.
We tend to do enough shopping to tide us over till well past January 1st. So this year the shopping will have to last us till January 3rd as Friday is our normal shopping day..
Last min countdown...do you mean @PennyForthem aside from all the duties ive unflinchingly undertaken for PrincessPenny's Party..
We've done waitrose or ' trose as we call it...busy in there but goodhumoured - tick
I wrapped all the little things for DD and SILs joint stocking til i ran out of sellotape..bought more - tick
All left for me is to assist Dd and SIL with making mincies and trifle ..mainly consisting of cleaning up and licking spoons
And of course days of peeling veg, burning self on stove, biting tongue to avoid squabbles with DD breaking out, endless washing up,cleaning and tidying round, trying to make myself look presentable and keep lively x x merrrrry christmas everyone!
I've made the salted caramel ice cream. It's to die for! I don't think I'll be doing the limoncello one as well, as we'd only have to eat that too.
