Compliment from my Doctor
13 Jan 2014, 02:32
Hello fasting friends,
Today my Doctor said " Well it looks like your still losing weight- hows it going?" I expained that i have lost 40 pounds(18kg) in 40 weeks and i am maintaining for these 5 weeks summer holidays then aim to lose 40 this year. I said hubs has lost 18kg and is nearly at goal and looks great. Now I eat alot less so when I do eat it is really good quality food that is really healthy including more nuts avocado and butter and less white carbs 90% of the time and 10% of the time I eat things I avoided ( cheese, crisps chips ,fried squid and fish) absolutely guilt free and I never feel deprived even on fast days. 5:2 has reset my appetite and now i have impulse control and delayed gratification is a common practice. My doc said that my husband and I are inspirational and that what people do for their health in there 30s and 40s will really affect the rest of their lives and that its really working for me so keep going. So that was nice to feel so supported.
Xxx julianna

Good on you both, and your doctor sound like a very supportive one.
Any doctor I have seen has been interested and positive as well.
As they should be!

Wow a doctor supportive of something new!! But really that's fantastic. As I sit on the lounge with my iPad perched on my post Christmas spare tyre, you are an inspiration. Keep going Julianna.

Well done both of you, such amazing weight loss, you are an inspiration. I like how you are choosing to have a maintenance period and back at it. That is very smart for times like festive season and medium sized holidays.

I might take a leaf out of your book one of these days Julianna and do just as you describe. Umm nice GP you have there, good to see

Congratulations on the weight loss! Sounds similar to my story, I had a break over Christmas and now getting back on track, got to lose those Christmas lbs first though! I took my break far too seriously and ate everything in sight! Heading in the right direction now though! Best wishes getting back in the swing and hopefully we'll both hit goal by the end of the year! :0)

How fab that must have made you feel , julianna! You have done remarkably well on this WOL and taking a maintenance break sounds like a good idea as it will give your metabolism a bit of a shock and hopefully assist in your loss when you resume fasting. x

@julianna, it's great to hear how supportive your doctor is. I've been feeling a bit poorly recently and have just had and ECG and bloods done. I am due to go back to my doctor on Friday to find out if something is up and was dreading the possibility of having to mention IFing. Perhaps I shouldn't judge a doctor I've never met before!

Great feedback Juliana. @wildmissus, I told my doctor I was fasting a few weeks back and she was quite encouraging, so maybe now its becoming more mainstream, (along with reduced sugar and increased good fats) you might get a positive reaction.
