Today is my first fastiversary and I am very happy as I weighed in for the first time since 14 December, 124.4lbs (8.88 stone, 56.42kg). It’s so near my 124lb target that I’m announcing GOAL and officially moving into maintenance.
This time last year my arthritic knee was painful and getting in the way of life. I weighed myself for the first time in well over ten years and that was a mighty big wakeup call So I started researching weight loss on line which was pretty daunting having never been near a diet before. I found MM and then this wonderful forum and immediately decided 52 was for me as I never have breakfast and knew from missing lunches in my earlier years this appeared doable and had the added health benefits too.
So a year ago I started my 5:2 journey. I have not looked back. I have found 5:2 very easy to stick with and lost 24.6lbs fasting twice a week on a Monday and Thursday. The nagging pain in my knee has GONE. I have not religiously counted calories but I have learnt a lot about foods and cut out rice, bread, potatoes, pasta, pastry etc (which I don't miss). I'm fortunate not to have the pull of a sweet tooth. Most importantly 5:2 has taught me to be mindful of what I eat and to eat the foods I like.
I know very well I would not have succeeded without this wonderful forum and I would like to say a great big thank you to everyone for the support and encouragement along the way and for hosting the challenges and tents. Visiting the forum daily and weighing daily (apart from the last two weeks) strengthened my resolve, kept me focused, accountable and on track. It was great fun to join the London (Merlin, Ssure) and Liverpool (Merlin, Callayana, PennyForthem, Barbarita) meet ups this month, it makes you realise how special this community is. So, if you feel a little shy, pluck up the courage – I can guarantee you won’t regret it.
A big shout out of thanks to my buddy @spanner- I hope all is well my dear?
Here's to 2015, I wish you all well. I'm tootling off to the maintenance tent ..... before I get all emotional on you.
