I've not lost an ounce over the last two fasts. I've been really careful with the calories, both on fasting and non-fasting days. I could understand it if I'd been on the 5:2 for ages, but this is week two of 36h fasting. I've also measured myself and no loss there either! Is everyone sure this system works? My only consolation is that it is (hopefully)doing me good in other ways.

Hi istbellaboo
Sorry to hear you are unhappy. Our bodies take time to adapt to this change in eating and for some, it can be a few weeks to see a nudge on the scales or tape measure.
Keep going, this WoE really DOES work, and your sytem will kick in when its ready
There are lots of threads on 'why I am not loosing' so give them a read I can't link to them as I am working !

Hang in there , bellaboo! It's early days and as mini says, it can take a wee while for the body to catch on to what's happening.
Make sure you drink plenty, be a bit mindful of what you're eating and drinking on non fast days and it'll soon start shifting.
Brave woman starting in December!
Also noticed that you have lost nearly one and a half kg. that's not too shabby!
Keep at it. Good luck

Hi @itsbellaboo I know exactly how you are feeling but this WOL does work unfortunately some people do have to wait longer to see results, I myself seem to be in a similar predicament having not made my xmas goal but my fastdays have gone off course so for now I'm doing 16:8 and just doing the best I can until next Friday when I will be able to do a true full fast, so let's get the silly season out of the way then concentrate on fasting first available day, don't give up just sort of delay. Good Luck
Me too. I've been fasting for 2 months and have only lost maybe 4lbs in total and 2 of those were because I was ill. I do like this way of eating so I'm going to stick with it and see what happens. Watch this space
Well said @Sue.Q, get the silly season out of the way. 16.8 has worked well for me over the past couple of weeks. It took a while for my body to drop into the 5.2 zone @teenybashJust take a look at my progress tracker.
You are fine. It took my body a month before I lost anything and I had a big drop all at once which is a trend that has continued throughout. For weeks I lose nothing and then out of the blue a couple of pounds will disappear. Keep going!
Ok thanks. I think I get the picture. Did it take you a while to get start losing and maintaining a loss?
Take my advice, drink LOTS of water, that's how I managed to lose
Great avatar and name itsbellaboo, it is very early days for you, just chill out and relax into the journey. Yes it works and it's so simple just limit your calories to your fasting TDEE eg under 500 calories on fast days, be scrupulous to get the idea of what constitutes 500 cals I suggest until you get the hang of it and on the other days eat reasonably normally. It works. The losses are faster for some people we all seem to react differently. It is not a rapid weight loss either? You will see some magnificent results here though. Check out the thread on the home page with this years weighing results you will be amazed. Best of luck
hi @itsbellaboo and @teenybash and welcome! I understand your disappointment but this seems to be such a common issue, there's been heaps written about it on this forum, and also solutions! I'm a newbie too, so I haven't worked out how to post a link unfortunately but if you search "why do the scales show an increase when I've been so good?" - carorees has written a very comprehensive post about this that should be helpful. Hang in there! cheers, Jools
5:2 has definitely worked for me. I started on 7th May. Don't know what my starting weight was because I was too scared/ashamed to weigh myself. In hindsight that was a good thing because I didn't get hung up on weight loss in the first few weeks. Joined this forum on 10th June and as you can see I have been tracking my weight regularly once a fortnight since then. Progress has been slow but reasonably steady. Stick with it and don't get too hung up on the scales is my advice

I have not published my progress tracker and I only weigh weekly, but over the course of the last 4 months, I have gained twice due to holidays (like now), but overall when I lose the trend goes down. I use True Weight on iphone to keep track and it generally shows a downward trend. However daily weighers do get big swings in their weight.
Hi:
There is no guarantee with any diet that weight loss will be consistent and always down. Weight loss is usually inconsistent and sporadic.
Here is a more realistic path you might experience: post71147.html#p71147
Good Luck!

Thank you everyone. I'll stick with it and see what happens.
