You must be telepathic AnnieD! Have I too reached a good point? It has for the first time crossed my mind.
I am fasting to-day, weight starting to drop slowly from a long wavering plateau, am 133 lbs(9-7 stone) goal 126(9-0) as when I married! BMI just above 25 and could be lower for my satisfaction....
BUT I have just bought a comfortable top size 12, which joyfully dropped over my hips and no need to think how to alter it NOR whether I should get a bigger size. This is still a mind-set from my overweight years. Perhaps this a sign that I am actually reaching a good point to maintain.
I think I will continue, relax and see what happens in the next weeks. This is anyway a permanent way to live for ever.....Adjust and Adapt!

Well done ;) my goal has shifted over time too. I say stop where you are happy and nothing is set in stone. You can always change your mind later :)

Well done AnnieD, if you are happy with the way you look and feel now, then it's time to stop, I've changed my mind several times during the past month as my face was getting thin and now I'm officially on maintenance. I'm feeling more energetic which was one of the reasons for starting this and it's wonderful to be able to wear clothes without trying to disguise my former large rear end.

Enjoy your slim but curvy look, you can always change your mind again at any time - but may not want to when you get used to your new shape.

 :like: :clover:

Having watched 'The Men Who made Us Thin' last night, I now realise that all the 'ideal' weight charts which I have ever seen are based on an arbitrary decision made by an insurance company statistician in the USA in the 1940's (I think it was around then) and based on 25 year olds! This was then adopted by the US government, spread around the western world and no-one ever questioned the validity of the 'ideal' weight range.

I think that we should all trust our own judgement on when it's time to start maintenance and that you have done absolutely the right thing in your own case. As we get older our body shape changes, fat distribution changes and skin elasticity changes! Taking all these into account is important in helping us arrive out our own personal goal. I am 5' 7" and have decided to stop at 10 stone 7 pounds, even though I was 9 stone 5 pounds when I married 44 years ago. I have maintained now for four weeks but reserve the right to change my mind at any time!

Good luck with your maintenance plan and keep us informed of how you get on.

I was lucky and reached my goal quite quickly (disciplined mental approach), but decided to lose a few more pounds and keep them off, so that when it comes to holiday time/winter/special occasions I would have a bit of lee way rather than trying to keep around my goal weight. Never been keen on published weights for my height - apparently should weigh well under 8 stone, a weight I would never achieve and not only that, I would look scrawny!
