I saw the doctor today and my thyroxine levels was way too high (TSH .08,Free T4 19.7,Free T3 4.5)so the dr said you reduce the thyroxine or stop the 5:2. I chose to drop my thyroxine by 25 % It will make weight loss harder but I managed when I dropped by the same amount in May when my cholesterol was great. Also my LDL has gone to 5.2 from 2.2 six months ago, whilst my HDL cholesterol remains unchanged at 1.1. I,ve been on 5:2 9 months altogether and lost 33lbs.It could be my thyroxine being out so much but the dr will review in 3 months as it was so good on the last test. Any ideas out there?

As I said on your other thread, I think its the thyroid hormones that are behind it. This study: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/24032604 shows how different levels of t3, t4, tsh etc can affect cholesterol. A high ft3:ft4 ratio is associated with worse lipid profile. Yours is 1:4.3, which is a bit high (normal is about 1:3 ). Then there is the problem of rt3, which you don't give numbers for. If rt3 is high, that can cause big problems.
Wait till the new dosage is established and then see!

I don't know what rt3 is and I'm having trouble finding it on google. Any clues? it doesn't seem to be on my blood test.
