Delighted or Disappointed?

Well I got down to 131.5kg at the 6 month mark of 4:3 after a week in the 133kgs, but now I've had 2 weeks back at the low 133kgs. I now think the 131.5 was just being dehydrated at the time. So, I think it's more likely I'm on week 3 of the 6th month plateau (which hopefully won't last too much longer).

Sticking with 4:3 and will report back when it breaks.

UPDATE: Plateau broken after approx 1.5 months.

Yes, with your fantastic weight loss a plateau had to be expected. Well done for your attitude, I look forward to hearing the good news when the plateau ends.
You are doing great TedE! In case you didn't know, keep in mind that your TDEE drops as your weight is dropping. Good luck getting off the plateau!
Thanks MaryAnn, yep, know all about that. Despite that I am pretty sure I am still at a significant caloric deficit.

I eat around 2,000kJ on fast days (although my last 3 fast days I've pushed through with no food) and, on average around 12,000kJ on non-fast days (I can't see how I could've eaten more than 16,000kJ on non-fast days and I am pretty sure I've had around 8,000kJ on some non-fast days having skipped breakfast).

My current TDEE is showing up as 13,335kJ. Assuming that is correct, and unless I've got my maths wrong, I'd have to be eating around 21,800kJ per day on each my 4 weekly non-fast days to not have a deficit. I can't think of a single day since I started fasting where I've had over 20,000kJ on a non-fast day, let alone every non-fast day in the last couple of weeks.

My BMR/RMR should be around 10,900kJ. Just on BMR alone, I should be on a deficit if I eat less than 17,500kJ on my 4 x non-fast days.

So I'm hopeful this is just common or garden plateau and normal service will resume shortly.

First of all let's congratulate you on your achievement this far. The temporary state you find yourself in seem to pass according to many who have reported experiencing here. Keep up the good efforts which you have made this far and I believe by only continuing with your path you will get to where you have set your own goals at.
Hi Ted Hang on in there, i know you will because you're very strong and determined, and I for sure can't teach you anything because whatever you've been doing you've done amazingly well. Congratulations on your weight lost so far and Good Luck :clover: :clover: Sue
After 4 weeks of plateau at the low to mid 133kgs (with an aberration reading of 131.5kg) I'm now down to 132.2kg this morning, though not going to be fully satisfied the plateau is over until I'm at 130.something and trending downwards.

TedE
I know just what you mean Ted. I'm almost at 7 months and have just been on a giant plateau for weeks and then this week lost 3.5 lbs couldn't believe it!!! 25 lbs lost in 26 weeks so far. At 60 I reckon that's pretty good but better still is the third improvement in my cholesterol!!
Strange to see this thread title. I was losing slow and steady for the first 5 months - about 2/3 lb/week. The last three weeks, stuck. Will have to just eat less on non-fast days I guess. Cut out the ice cream.

Yeah, I used the word "clockwork" deliberately. Plateaus at 6 months seems to be standard. See these extracts from article extracts listed on Pubmed concerning weight loss methods other than IF:

"RESULTS:A mean weight loss of 5 to 8.5 kg (5% to 9%) was observed during the first 6 months from interventions involving a reduced-energy diet and/or weight-loss medications with weight plateaus at approximately 6 months." - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17904936

"Regardless of the intervention, at approximately 6 months a weight loss plateau occurred." - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15461905

No reason why I can't bust this plateau by continuing with what I've been doing and hopefully in doing so I can add to the anecdotal evidence regarding having and breaking the 6th month plateau.

TedE
Me too. I'll post again when I'm back on the downward trend.
Back to 133.3kg this morning. Plateau not over yet. Interesting that the 132.2kg was following a fast day after 2 feed days whereas today's was after a fast day following 1 feed day.

Well, we're still stuck, TedE. I started 5:2 in March, so I'm still very much in the 6th month. Very frustrating. I'm not losing steam, and you better not either!
131.3kgs (new record low) this morning and I think it could've been lower, think I'm carrying more waste than usual. Should hopefully start to see consistent losses again this week and going forward.

TedE
Hurrah! Well done !
