Lost 6lb this week
28 Sep 2013, 09:59
This is my second week of 5:2
Last week I lost 2lb and this week 6lb
Is it possible that my surgery last week has skewed my results due to swelling etc?
Or is it likely I'll put some of that 6lb back on next week?
This isn't going to be all water loss either as I've been dieting and losing weight for the last year.
I'm just confused  and a little bit worried that I'll be putting some of it back on next week. :?:
Could do with some advice or reassurance really!

Wow Karen that's amazing
Well done and to me a loss is a loss whatever form it arrives in don't really think you'll gain back so try not to worry just enjoy and whatever happens don't overcompensate this week :clover: Sue :clover:

Hi Karenm, Well done on your weight loss. I started about the same time as you. So I may not be the best to give advice but I'll have a go. After my first week I lost 2.6lbs and then the 2nd I lost 1.2lbs. I manage to stay off the scale the first week but I'm weighing myself everyday again now :( and just recording it on Thursday, anyway last wednesday I was 3lbs down from previous weigh in, by Thursday morning I was only 1.2lbs down, then firday I was 3lbs down again and this morning I'm up a lb. What I'm trying to say is, I think it will always be up and down with this WOE, with a downwards trend. I read a great post on here when I first started about why how and when the body holds water etc, It's made me stop worrying about the number on the scale so much (can't stay off the scale though, I'm addicted). I wasn't disheartened when I only lost 1.2lb in second week. I don't think you'll put any of it back on next week but you may have a smaller loss, which is ok because you've lost more than 1/2 a stone in 2 weeks. Just keep doing what you're doing it's obviously working. Good luck. :clover: let us know how you get on next week.
Dee

Well done so far Karen. It's a loss, so take it! My first month was really slow and then I had a week where I lost 3 pounds. So it's not linear, you need to work with the longer term trend. Good luck for next week.

Hi Karen...Just enjoy yr weight loss and be pleased with yourself
Dont get anxious and overly worried or you will get so tired and fed up of it that you may just give up! And remember, measuring inches is as important as watching the scales. The tape measure often shows loss even if the scales don't!
Take the advice from the longtermers here! You are doing great..even if you dont lose another ounce for a week or two,you will still have lost eight pound in a month! That is an enormous loss, give yrself a pat on the back! X x

5:2 suits me!
I'm not eating breakfast as it starts my hunger.
I get weighed Saturday morning. Don't count calories at all on a Saturday.
Eat brunch and a sensible dinner Sunday.
Liquid fast 2 days (black coffee and water)
Eating sensibly the other days.
My first three weeks have been stressful/eventful. In the past, that would've sent me over to the dark side (comfort eating) That just hasn't happened this time. Even when I thought I'd eaten loads, it was 1500 calories.
I realise that the weight loss is going to slow down now and that's actually okay!
This is my way of life and not a quick fix! :like:

Hi and welcome:

Here is the weight loss math that will explain how much you might expect to lose over time. Tempered expectations will help if you now expect to continue to lose 4 pounds a week.

Good Luck!

Thankyou

I lost 43lb calorie counting before finding 5:2 only 3 weeks ago.
I lost 2lb first week, 6lb second week and 2lb this week.
I only want to lose another 4lb, which will go over the next month.
I understand the maths, the TDEE, calorie deficit etc
I am liquid fasting 2/3 days and eating approx 1500 cals on non fast days.
When the weight refuses to budge, I will take a week or two off to shake things up (as per Amanda salis theory) and then get back on it!
I am not worried, stressed or upset. This woe suits me and is sustainable. It is healthier than my usual yoyo dieting and I am not scared of being on a diet for the rest of my life.
