Delighted or Disappointed?

With every pound I lose my TDEE gets lower and lower

Now I understand why I re-gained the weight I'd lost in the past - continuing to eat the same number of calories thinking they were low enough to help you lose weight in the first place so surely they're low enough for you to maintain ...

But the frustrating part is that my sedentary TDEE is around 1300. To me that seems very LOW. Guess I'm going to have to keep a close eye on that to avoid my weight creeping back up :frown:

Such is life and I guess this is a small price to pay for staying healthy
You got it!! I also have a shockingly low TDEE. Don't be disheartened if the weight loss slows down as your weight drops because if it. Mine has, but it's ok, this is a WOL after all, it's not a race, we will all get there eventually
That does seem kind of low, if you are fasting the other days. You can still eat a lot on that if you do it right! You could also add some exercise and could eat a little more that way!

You have to decide how much weight you want to lose, because the smaller you get the harder it is to maintain!
 @jeninboston you got it in the end that's all that matters, mine is obviously still very high and I sometimes forget to take that into consideration when I answer posts and say
"I make my fastday meal of 2 courses". Well I do but and as long as my TDEE stays high however as it drops I will have to adjust this.  Sue
Thank you ladies for your validation and encouragement

I do moderate exercise most days so I know I can probably afford to go upto 1400 a day. I'm currently in maintenance so the theory is I could

1. stick to 1400 a day 7 days a week
or
2. continue to fast two days and eat upto 1600 the other 5 days

both scenarios could work and i like the flexibility of mixing and matching

As some of you have said, it's just a matter of experimenting, trial and error. I just wasn't aware that the TDEE would go down but of course it makes sense!! I always blamed my eventual weight gain after a loss on a reduction in metabolism because of the diet, when in reality it's just less of me needing less calories

It's all such an interesting experiment ...

Thanks again for your support
That's one reason I've given up breakfast and do 16:8 instead. My TDEE is around 1500 and by skipping breakfast I can have a normal sized lunch and dinner and not go over TDEE. Plus skipping breakfast cuts down my carb intake greatly as I always used to have a carb-based breakfast.
Thats what ive done too and it really works. Thanks caroline and ballerina for the advice. I do find thats its easier not to tell some people tho, I like to avoid the lecture about breakfast being the most important meal of the day.
Yes I've just had that 'advice' over the Christmas break ... And have gained because of it :curse:
Never mind, back to normal next week, and it'll soon come off :victory:
