Hi Izzy,
I'm really glad you're sticking around, that's good news!
Well done too on your successful fast, I'm really struggling fasting today, as it's so blooming cold!! Roll on Spring, then we'll all find it much easier.
Yeah, we're all great! ;-)
And so are you, keep going!!! :-D
By the way, love your picture. Do you live in this beautiful place?
Evie x
Well done Izzy! Now you've achieved that it should get easier.

I was lucky that I was OK with the fasts to start with. I had been eating very low carb for 2yrs and maybe I was already fat-adapted but I've eaten a bit more carb on feast days since starting the plan and yesterdays fast day was a complete bear of a day. Trawling through all the advice on here kept me going too. A great bunch of people!
I wondered that too Evie but forgot to ask.
Glad you stayed and we can all help each other :)
So glad you're staying around and are not giving up! :like: I'm sure you'll get there in the end, its just a matter of hanging on until you can give those rotten steroids the boot! :clover:

I wanted to know about your avatar pic too!
Izzy, that's great! carbs are so addictive and it is a terrible struggle to reduce them. My favourite foods for years - pasta, potatoes, rice, bread and although they are not unhealthy per se, I just always found I had to have a too large portion and still went back for seconds (or thirds  ) I have had to retrain myself to keep away from most processed carbs, replacing them with veggies and fats. It was not easy - and I was not taking steroids, which I'm sure would make it more difficult. Nowadays, I actually prefer veggies to pasta, pizza but I will always, always miss my large helpings of potatoes! So glad you are sticking around :victory:
When it comes to the starchy filler foods I think a lot of it is habit. We eat them because its what we've always done without a lot of thought to taste etc. I've not eaten much in the way of pasta for ages as I find the gluten free variety terribly bloating but when I first went low carb I did miss my roast potatoes. First week on 5:2 and Sunday lunch was on the cards. I looked forward to roast potatoes for the first time in about 2yrs. I was amazed to find that I just don't like them anymore. I scraped them off my plate and filled the gap with extra veg!If I want something to mop up a sauce I use roasted cauli or spiced cabbage or, if I need something quick, courgette cut into ribbons with a Y-peeler and quickly steamed.
I must confess, I practically live on carbs. I eat pasta (whole wheat) almost everyday, always with veggies and not much fat/cheese. I don't like protein much unless it's fish but I want my fish fresh and that isn't always easy to find. I also eat a lot of pulses. I mainly follow the diet of my Greek ancestors. Meat/chicken once or twice a fortnight, fish once or twice a week and the rest is carbs, veggies and pulses. Oh, and eggs once or twice a week.
Izzy, I'm still stuck with me carbs. I've learned (the hard way) to not rise any arguments to my stomach, LOL! Plus, everybody praises the Mediterranean diet so who am I to judge? ;-)
Thank you Izzy, I'm glad I've help people with their avatars. I like yours very much and as I live in a beautiful seaside town and I think I'd might use a scenic view of it rather than a picture of me, I'll wait and see.

I'm so glad you're hanging around, not just for the 5:2ing thing but you are a great contributor to the forum and we need more folk like you.

By the way I started a new topic about my cat as it would appear that we might know who deliberately did it!!! Needless to say my upset has turned to anger.
