Thanks Rachel, I am going to start off with 4:3 I think, I had 2000 cals yesterday and have 1900 today but planning on having 1500-1700 during the week on non fast days. We just had a Dominos (pizza) takeaway and instead of my usual large stuffed crust I had a small thin crust with low fat cheese so I think this diet does make you make better choices.

Good on you Ems- it can be a bit of a shock though, can't it!
I had no scales for years and stood on them in a hotel room when we were away for my birthday. That was not a good plan but it did start me 5:2ing so all was not lost. I weigh monthly and manages to miss it this month as I was away -oops, I don't think so!
I measure monthly and have managed to miss that too...perhaps there is something going on here!
So don't get too hung up on the number, use it as a guide along with much better indicators like how your clothes feel, how you feel yourself and the tape measure- and always believe the one that's being kindest to you!
you can do it - we ALL can!

Hi Ems, well done on getting on the scales and showing your stats. Don't worry too much what the numbers say just use them to see the downward trend. I love to see other peoples charts - take a look at mine, down, up, down, up. I'm just a 'normal' person who has good days and bad days (at the moment I going through the phase 'I don't like what I see in the mirror'). I set myself little targets - my current one is to get to 12st 2lb which will mean I'll have lost a stone and a half. I've got 5lb to lose to achieve this target but no timescale as I'm in it for the way of life anyway.

We can all achieve our goals in the long term with this way of life.

Hi everyone :)
Wow thanks for all the support that's why I love this forum everyone is so encouraging! Sooo its been a week today since I first weighed myself and yes its so tough not to hop on the scales everyday :/ I have been hoping on them every morning which I told myself I wouldn't do - something i will have to work on :)
Okay so results time!!
109.1kg!! - Yup that's about 4.6kg loss :) I'm over the moon jumping for joy can't believe it! Yay :)

On my waist this week I also lost another .5cm! It kind of makes me wonder what my starting weight when I started 5:2 about 3 weeks ago would have been though eek I dread to think! Oh well let's keep positive.
we can do this! :)

Apparently :) everyday I hoped on the scales I was seeing about a 500g loss which is pretty awesome! At first I thought the scales might b faulty so I got my hubby to jump on them and he's only a couple of 100g different to what he was last week which I guess makes sense since he isn't dieting. Im wondering whether its cause I have heaps to loose? I've also started exercising this past week as well which may have helped?

That's AMAZING, I hope I have a similar experience on Friday at my first weigh in! You do know thats like 10 pounds which is nearly a stone!! Have you been fasting every day lol I have around 5 stone to lose and you do lose it faster the more you weigh

Hi Claire wow is it really close to a stone? Eek it sounds like I've lost an unhealthy amount when you put it like that haha no I only fasted 2 days although one of my feast days I didn't end up eating much I only eat when I'm hungry now. I just saw ur post about giving up too don't give up!! There's so much support on here and we can all help you through :) are you measuring yourself as well? That's always a good indicator :) best of luck Claire and keep going :) it definitely gets easier the longer you've been doing it :)

14 lbs to a stone; 2.2 lbs to one kg - 10 lbs is still brilliant progress.

Yay well that's good :) I think everyone has moments like that mine normally hit at about 2-3pm on fast days. I've just started exercising again this week, I did a 40min zumba DVD just on 2 days but my job is one where I walk around a lot and only sit on my breaks which probably helps as well :) are you doing any exercise? I can always recommend zumba :) its so fun

Aw lucky I love Labradors! Um its called zumba exhilarate comes with about 6 dvds yeah I definitely don't have enough confidence to do it in a group yet so I find it great being able to do it in the comfort of my own lounge especially with winter approaching can turn the heater on while I do it :)

Update - Wednesday 24th
Weight 110.5kg
Waist 115cm
...so I've gained .5cm since last week and I've gained about 1 and a half kg :/ it is upsetting but then I've read enough posts in this forum to know I'm not alone and results definitly fluctuate week to week :) so another week starting today - bring it on!!
