So I 'bit the bullet' and purchased a set of scales to weigh myself to help track my progress better. The result? 113.7kgs!! I was hoping the figure wouldn't be so high but I knew deep down it probably would be. So next fast day is tomorrow and I'm feeling ready to go and loose some weight! made my stats visible as well so hopefully it will be some extra encouragement! Eek so much to loose wish me luck!

Well done Ems
It is great to be able to see the numbers start to go down but don't despair if you have the odd blip and they go up a little every now and again.
Best of luck!

Go Ems, best thing about this is that you should see a lovely graph now and it REALLY helps to keep motivation going as losses can be so gradual.
Just think of it as a pound a time and it's like saving, it'll add up over the months. You just have to do one day of dieting at a time.

Thanks pimlicoman and BBT053
Don't stress about the scales, it's all about getting you down to a healthy range and let you be in charge of your food, not food of you. I like to think as my weight as a sickness and that my diet and (little at the moment, hopefully more soon) exercise are the medicine to make me better.
You'll do great! I'm on the day after my fast now and don't feel all that hungry. Like this morning, a just had two egg plain omelette with a tiny amount of butter in the pan and a cup of coffee and a tangerine for a snack about 20 mins ago and I'm not feeling deprived at all.
I'm supposed to meet a friend for a fish and chip dinner tonight, but I'm going to have to ask for a kids portion (I just don't see myself eating a whole thing!). Who'd have thought a single fast brought on such a big change!

Thanks Mresta love your way of thinking!
Remember soon it'll be giving you good news! I can't stop stepping on my scales daily and they fluctuate so much, I always hang on to the weight loss so far and keep the faith this way of eating works although not necessarily as a conventional diet would so don't be disheartened when they go up/down/stay the same. I seem to lose weight in spurts and then go up and then go down again! I've lost 16lbs now (have a lot to lose), but it's taken over 3 months so it's slow but far easier than any other eating regime I've attempted and failed at and I can see myself sticking at it and making it part of how I eat! At the beginning I made myself stick at it for a month despite some teething problems with headaches etc. I find fast days easy now and it's helped me address some of my other bad eating habits! Good luck to you and I look forward to seeing you post your progress!

Well done Ems - go for it. I am sure you can do it .Good luck!!
I have alot to lose too and it is a daunting prospect but I think I may have found something that will get me to my target then help to sustain it after losing 3 stone and putting 5 on then losing 4 stone and putting 6 on!! I weigh 17.6 stone and my aim is 16 stone for July time so setting myself small realistic goals x
Hey Ems, mariposa said it so well "hang on to the weight loss so far" ...... I cannot resist weighing daily, which means I have days when I am disappointed but overall, without a doubt, I couldn't have got here without 5:2 and my OH is delighted
P.S. Claire23 go girl go ! Let's be honest about what we need to achieve & we WILL do it ...... after all, we are WOMEN !!!
You can do it! I don't weigh every day as I get depressed if there is no change or it has gone up!
Keep us posted.

Wow Rachel your weight loss is amazing - has it all been on 5:2?
Yes don't give the scale too much power over your mood. My weight went up a pound today after a very low cal fast day yesterday but I know it can't be fat, must be water or scale issue. Sometimes it is hard not to let that number ruin your day but you just can't let it.
Thanks Claire - I have just weighed myself and I feeling very chuffed.
I have lost the weight doing 4:3 - I started last September. I heard about the fast diet last year but didn't see the programme so bought a book on the alternate day diet. I started doing alternate day and then went onto 4:3.
Its taken a while for me to learn not to overeat on the "normal" eating days so 4:3 works better for me I think than 5:2 might. I'm not sure how I am going to work the maintenance phase when I reach that point. I think if I went to 6:1 that I might start over eating again by relearning to eat too much - I'll worry about that when I get to that happy day of needing to stop losing.
