Square 1 almost
22 Apr 2013, 11:59
HHi All,

I've been ill for over a month now and I am tired of feeling bad :frown: I've not been fasting because I just felt rubbish. I suffer from illness and I've crept back into my old nasty habits :curse:
So today even though I'm not fully recovered I'm trying to claw back into my fasting regime. I'm finding this hard to maintain.
I was doing so well  I checked myself on the scales and I've only put on 5Lbs which for me is amazing. Feeling low but determined
Just wanted to tell someone.

You have had success before so you know you can do it again! Good luck and keep the faith!

Hi jaquiann

Is it the fasting that is making you feel rubbish or the underlying illness? If you are finding it hard to get into the fasting WOL, I would suggest working your way in gradually. Start by restricting calories on fast days to 1000 cal. When that feels comfortable, reduce to 800, then 600 then 500. At the same time, try to leave a big gap between dinner and breakfast (12 hours, so no snacking after dinner) and then try either skipping breakfast (or lunch if you are a breakfast person). This will ease you into fasting and the long gaps between meals will help with lowering insulin and may trigger some repair work by your body. I try to have at least a 12-hour food-free period in each 24 hours as well as the fasting days because I think it helps to keep the body remembering how to burn fat and helps prevent overeating by preventing late night snacking!

Good luck and here's hoping you soon feel better!

Thanks to everyone made me feel better,
I have an underlying illness and fasting has helped as I lost 3 stone. I will always have good and bad days but I've been quiet bad for over a month. I just need to get back into the saddle lol

Good luck jacquiann. I really feel for you having an underlying illness which hampers your progress. But treat each day as a new start and don't get disheartened, if you try today and can't get through it, put it behind you and mark your next fast day in your diary. Keep in mind that you have already lost a lot of weight so you're in a better position than when you started. You just need to give yourself permission to have a rest for a while without feeling guilty, then get back on track when you feel well and strong. It's ok to take the 'scenic' route as long as you get there in the end.

I wish you well. Let us know how you get on.

C x

Hi All

Thanks for the support

Well did my first fast yesterday and made it through in one piece. Fasting again today as 2 days in a row works best for me. I will let you all know how I do today. Having crust-less quiche and veg for tea.
Then lots of cleaning after walking my dogs. Im trying to keep busy so I don't cheat

One step at a time, don't stress yourself if you don't succeed at once!
