Thanks for this thead redhead. I attempted a water fast last week but was feeling ill and couldn't do it (still had under my 400 cals though) but this week I'm going to really give it a go :-) I also have milk in my tea and coffee on fast day but do you think I could get away with a miso soup to keep me going too?

JennyH10, I'd say have the miso - it'll make such little difference (if any at all) over the course of a few weeks/ months it's really worth it if it helps. I was having a few coffees and some with sugar - at 40 cals a cup (conservatively) - in my first month of liquid fasting, probably clocking in around a 100cals total on a fast day and I still lost 2lb a week. I put the loss down not just to the fast day restrictions, but also to the fact that liquid fasting really helps to control non fast day eating.

Well done redhead, I too am reflecting on 15 weeks (almost).
You've done brilliantly & so have I (even though I say so it myself - lol). I've lost 9.07kg not quite as good as you.
I've joined you 36 hour liquid fasters once ( I needed herbal tea ) but not sure I could do it twice a week on water only and it didn't increase my weight loss that week. I may join you all again if the weight loss stalls. Onwards & downwards.

Scotty, your brilliant weight loss just proves that normal 5:2 is really fantastic! I'm not water fasting to speed up weight loss, rather because I find it easier and it suits me. Comparing our avatar stats just goes to show that it's all about what suits the individual that counts. So glad you posted just below me so others can see that for themselves. Long live 5:2 in all its variations!
