Just a month into this new way of eating and pleased with my progress (especially my 6lb weight loss and 1" off my waist) but after a successful fast day yesterday I completely lost the plot today. I've been in the biscuit jar and nearly emptied it! I am now so disappointed in myself and feel I've completely wiped out any benefits I gained yesterday.

I hope they were good biscuits. One slip up isn't going to matter. Next fast day will catch you up again.
At least you lasted a month before your slip up
I messed up in my second week! Went out for a meal and over ordered and over ate. Was extremely uncomfortable after that and the weights were not kind that week. Live & learn
As a diet or way of eating, 5:2 is extremely forgiving. Besides, to err is human

Some days you just feel hungry and you eat.
Those days can spur you on to come in on target for your fast arrangements. Isn't this the beauty of this WOE

Hi Ginge, I did exactly the same thing. Fast day Monday, binged Tuesday. Its great to have feedback from everyone isn't it? Fast day again tomorrow so back to normal.
I went through a munchies stage, it did pass although I still have the odd slip up! Sometimes if I binge I skip a meal later in the week to try and redress the balance, sometimes it makes no difference to the weight loss and oddly sometimes it helps! Don't be disheartened, it takes a while to adjust to fasting
Don't worry about it, I think most of us have been there too - sometimes we just need to eat biscuits! You'll make up for it on the next fast day so just write it off and move on.
I don't think the odd day makes a difference, as long as its not every day.
I've only been on this 5:2 WOE for just over 3 weeks and I've lost weight every week, the tune of the moment is Madness, 'Baggy trousers'
... but during this time I've still had 'a glass or three', but only at weekends and I was taken out for a meal one night as 'payment' for some work I did for somebody. This was between fast days, I had a full 3 course meal (pate/toast, steak/chips, sticky toffee pud/ice cream and a couple of pints of ale) ...... and still lost 1 lb that week, so don't panic Cap'n Mainwairing, don't panic

Oh I've done that heaps of times! I seem to go through stages of eating sensibly on non fast days, and then having times of massive binging too. My weightloss has been slow but steady, even with the pig outs, so I figure that even if I don't actually lose over a week, I haven't put on, and the trend s definitely downwards.
I have regular pig out days - usually at the weekends (which for me start on Friday) when I'm having spending time with family, friends, going out etc - but I just balance it out the following week. It's always fine, I still lose. You'll be fine.
I hope you enjoyed the biscuits though - if you're going to pig out you may as well truly enjoy doing so

Don't worry about it Ginge- it's only once (don't make a habit of it, or no more than a monthly habit anyway ) - this will sort it self out over your next fast day and beyond. The trend will still be downward - and you've not wiped out the benefit of knowing that you can do a fast day - so you can make up for it next time!
Join the club! How normal is pigging out? There have been days when I could have eaten a scabby dog and then had his mate on toast! As everyone else says, it is unimportant as long as it doesn't become a daily thing so, forget it, wipe your mouth and start fasting again.
Good luck,

Just when I was beating myself up and hating myself over eating so many biscuits the "Forum Cavalry" entered stage left and promptly lifted my spirits. Thank you all for your kind comments, encouragement and for even making me laugh. So good to learn you've all succumbed to something on similar lines to my discovery of the biscuit tin. Thanks to you I realise I am only human rather than the failure I felt myself to be yesterday. So good to receive support and encouragement. So good to discover I am not on my own in the attempt to shed the pounds. Thanks for taking the time to support me.
P.S. I've never used a forum before but I'm really pleased I joined this one.

I'm so glad I read this post. Today was supposed to be a fast day but I barely made it to 11am! Have been eating ever since and I know I'll suffer for it tomorrow. I'm trying to get over a bad cold and had been fasting as per usual without any problems but I guess my appetite has returned - I'll take that as a sign of recovery. I'll try again tomorrow and hopefully stay away from the bread and muffins that call to me with their Sirens song
Hang in there Ginge, you're definitely not alone

Hurrah! Another human being. Welcome aboard. I am not alone!
