Do feathers weigh the same as fat too then ?

P.s. (yes, i do know that a pound of feathers weighs the same as a pound of anything but wanted to point out that volume is extremely significant in day to day discussions of weight.) think it's fair to say that lead weighs more than feathers (due to the volume issues) so by most standards muscle 'weighs more' than fat... (assuming it does - i have only heard anecdotally that the same volume of muscle weighs less than fat - not a scientist)...
Just want to say a big thank you to this forum (: You've all encouraged me to stick with it and I definitely will. Hopefully this time next week/the week after I'll be able to post a Delighted thread instead!
@bethan
Hi, yeah I have just started the Shred. People's results seem to vary from having no weight loss, to losing over 1/2 a stone! I was hoping I'd be the latter
You may well have substituted fat for muscle! And good for you (: I'm hoping that will be the case for me too. I have been measuring and have lost inches overall but have now stalled. Hoping it's just water retention and time of the month and that I will start losing again next week!
@badtzmaru5
Thanks for your advice I guess it must just be harder to shift pounds if there's not that many to shift, but it is irritating. I've dropped my TDEE to 1400 and doing regular exercise so hopefully it will kick-start my body into burning some of that fat.
I did find in my second week that I lost inches and no pounds, so I was okay with that, but it would be nice to see a downward movement on the scales! Hoping that by exercising and cutting calories I will burn the fat and keep the muscle, and like you say, tone up. Just have to keep at it!
I've been considering weighing every day but it tends to get me down. I'll stick to weekly for now, maybe...

I am in the same boat too. BMI is under 25 so we will have a very slow weight loss. I started this at the beginning of May and was going to wait until the end of the month to weigh myself but I just got too impatient.
My weight has varied in the last week between 66kg and 64kg so now I can see just how deceptive those scales can be! I have also been exercising, either brisk walking for an hour or jogging for around 40 minutes. I was a bit disappointed at first too. I thought I would have lost more, but in just over two weeks I have lost 3lbs which isn't bad really!
Now I will step on the scales next on the 1st of June and not a minute before! I remember a great quote from Paul McKenna's weight loss book that can help if you are a bit down over the scales. It was something like: "When an areoplane is travelling it can be off course for up to 90% of the time, but it always knows where it is going and will get to the destination in the end."
Maybe we should "weight" *groan!* until the end of this month to hop on the scales next and share the feedback!

I don't think this is necessarily true. My BMI was 21 when I started the diet and the weight shifted pretty quickly, nevertheless.
I read your weight loss story Franglaise and it was very inspriring. I will start following the tips you left on the post, started by running for three miles a day. It's only been one week and already it is getting easier. I truly never thought I would be one of those girls who enjoys running!
@vix89
I love that aeroplane analogy I will definitely be sharing my feedback but I think I'll keep on with my weekly weigh-ins. I just have to try not to overreact so much (hard when you're PMSing!)
You're doing really well, though! 3lbs in 2 weeks is above the average. If you're like me then you'll struggle with weeks of not losing because other diets (especially crash diets) see the weight come off so suddenly. The whole point of this is slow and steady wins the race. I need to be more patient!
@Franglaise
You're very lucky! I've heard quite a few people say that being in the 'healthy' BMI range makes it more difficult. Who knows, really? Congratulations
