Giving 4/3 a try
29 May 2013, 02:02
I have been doing 5/2 since the beginning of March and have lost about 3 lbs/mo. I'm trying to up the weight loss so am switching it to 4/3 and see if it will make a difference. I was fasting on Mondays and Thursdays but now trying Sun, Tues, Thurs. Today (Tuesday) was not easy. I am tired and a bit grumpy today. Has anyone else found the switch to be a challenge? Also I save my calories for my evening meal and I am using MFP app to stay on track with calories on all the days- Thanks, C-

I started on 4:3, and have had trouble switching to 5:2, mostly out of anxiety...

I fast Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday usually, and Wednesday tends to be tough. I'll bet even if you go over a bit on one of the fast days, you'll still lose faster than on 5:2 (based on the larger calorie deficit).

I've done most only the 4:3 and usually it goes ok. Only struggle now and then. Have been very happy with the results/

I do mostly 4:3 Tues/Thurs/Sunday too - did 5:2 last week and put a little bit on, so I am back to 4:3 - I like it and like Maryann I think I will not lose as much doing 5:2, so prefer it that way. Denversuz that is really good weight loss - good on you!

I'm trying 4:3 for a couple of weeks to boost the snail's pace loss. I'll do Sun, Tue and Thurs. If I do Sunday and Tuesday as my 5:2 I find it a bit hard going. I think the one day inbetween makes it tough for me. Having said that, Yesterday was better than the two previous fasts where I have been like a newbie again- totally wiped and lethargic. It's a strange beast this 5:2/4:3!

Thanks janeg it's good to know it's not just me struggling with the switch. Honestly I was a little surprised, the fast days on 5/2 were not too hard, but with this new approach it seams I have to almost start over again. Hopefully next week will be smoother- good luck to all of us!

I'm doing 4:3 as well, mainly because I prefer the rhythm of it. I almost felt like the gap between the last fast and the first fast of the next week was too long on 5:2.

Good luck switching over :)

Hi All, I'm sort of trying 4/2.5 ;) On my 3rd day I just up the calories slightly say to about 700, which is a little easier if during the weekend - I have a light healthy lunch and then have to 500 for supper , it breaks up the feed days from my last fast say a Wednesday or Thurs - Also stops me going on a feeding drinking , frenzy ;) x We'll see how I get on.

well this is most bizarre! I am energetic- have had this a couple of time after a fast but not like this. Did the shred thing with no ill effects - still killed me though- and am lively. hmmmm. Must make the most of it :D

I'm just switching over to 4:3 (or more likely 4.5:2.5, as I'll take in about 750 calories on the extra day), and I absolutely could have written your post myself, HopefulHeart. I've been fasting Sundays and Thursdays, and by Thursday something definitely seems off about the fasting rhythm.

I think, ideally, I'd like to do one fast day and have two days off, and I may well try that at some point in the future. For now, I think I'll try Thursdays, Sundays and Tuesdays as fast days. It will be interesting to note what the changes are, especially in weight. Must go replace the dead battery in my scale. Maybe I've been weighing myself too much.

Its the problem with 7 being a prime number. Upsets my sense of pattern.

Yay Lynsey! I am on my Thursday (3rd fast this week) it's still morning here, but I think I will be fine today. It's stopped raining so I'm going to try and get a walk in later this evening. Have a great day everyone!
