oh POO! I gained.
07 Jun 2013, 06:39
I've gained back that half pound I lost last week, despite it being an ok week. I managed my two fasts, I exercised, I got back into my normal routine.

Ugh, what gives, people? I have to say I am pretty narked about it. I hope this isn't the start of another irksome plateau.

:(

Ach that's a bummer. Have you measured and seen a difference? Half a pound isn't a lot really but can understand your frustration (being at the stage of losing half a pound a MONTH)
Hope fully it's water retention or something- have you eaten anything highly seasoned? TOTM? Increased your exercise or changed it?
Minor blip - it'll shift like the rest of it has.
Do you need a hug?

Yes please Janeg. Thanks x

Err yeah I guess I have changed my exercise, I've switched routines a bit to stop myself getting bored. Its not my TOTM (but is mid month) but as for highly seasoned foods this week I have eaten bacon and a fair amount of salty crisps. Hopefully it's that.

I'll be kind to myself and try not to get disheartened. You're right, it is only half a lb.

If you're only weighing once a week have a crafty hop on the scales in the morning. Half a pound is only one good tiddle!!!

I might be wrong but didn't you let things slide a bit last week? I find quite often if I do that I don't necessarily gain straight away, but the week after I do. I call this the debit card effect, like when you pay for things with a card and your bank balance doesn't change, then suddenly it all goes out at the same time, only in this case you eat more than you probably should and the scales don't change, then suddenly you gain...

Anyway half a pound is nothing, as miffy49 says a bit of extra water probably stored because of the extra excercise...just remain calm and keep going!

I feel your pain - I had a gain of over a pound when I weighed on Wednesday (after a fast), and then ANOTHER POUND when I sneaked on the scale yesterday morning. I was horrified! I have since lost all of it and am back exactly where I started last Wednesday. But what a roller coaster ride! I have gotten myself a weight tracking app and hope to use that to get a better picture of what's really going on.

Hope it doesn't ruin your day. Don't let it!

Don't worry about it my dear, half a pound can easily just be a bit of natural variation. You could actually be half a pound down on last week but happen to have weighed at the wrong time for your body - perhaps you're holding a bit of extra water (the exercise can cause your muscles to retain water while they repair/grow).

Just try not to stress and don't be more controlling this week because of it - that's usually counter productive. We all need to learn to relax a bit more and trust the system, it works :) I was planning to 'be good' during the week as I'd eaten so much at the weekend I was sure I'd need to undereat for the rest of the week if I wanted to at least maintain. Well, it didn't happen, I probably still ate to TDEE or just over (having gone well over Fri/Sat/Sun!) and the scales are down by over 1lb this week.

Half a pound, don't worry - it'll be gone in no time my dear. *hugs*

Thanks guys! As usual you've put things into perspective for me. And yes, Nicky_94, I did let things slide a bit last week. It was half term week and my daughter's birthday so we celebrated a lot. :)

4flipsake salt caused the body to hang onto fluid which can cause bloating and weight gain.

Sorry to hear that - but all comments above obviously make sense!

This is why I'm giving myself a break from weighing, I just don't want to know right now. Sticking to fasts (v strict on max 500 cals) but not thinking too much about what I eat on other days.

I decided to leave it for four weeks, but not sure I'll manage that - done two so far.

Is it me, or are quite a lot of people finding it more difficult as time goes on?

Hadn't lost for 2 weeks - gained some ounces and now lost 2 pounds - either way it is a slow go - not even a pound a week - been on the program 2 months. Fasting is just a way of life now. I don't count every bite of food but eat healthy on feed days and I am going down - about 10 more pounds to go and it it takes to Christmas I don't care. My clothes are loser, I feel better about me and feel I feel more in control of my food, life and body - so everyone pat yourself on the back for getting up and doing this every day - even a few ounces is an accomplishment!!

I am Swedey.
I've never found fasting to be particularly difficult once I got used to the idea however I have been more hungry on my fast days recently but sticking to it and struggling to lose any weight. Strange ....
