Forgot to say, the only certain way to know if you're retaining water is to weigh yourself, take a diuretic, pee yourself off and then weigh again. The first time I did that (although all my tests seemed perfect) I lost 3,5 kilos!!!

Hi Izzy

We had a private health assessment at the begining of this month and OH had a few more red markers than me  so I have been loading him up with celery, raw and steamed, don't know if it will do any good. He said whats's with the celery overdose. My answer : shurrup it'll do ya good.

TML - I know!!! CRP 4!!! Not bad at all is it? I'll have the thyroid test done on Friday, and see what happens there. I'll mention about diuretics, but I'm on a low dose of blood pressure medication, so I'm not sure if I could take both? BP is nice and stable, and all my bloods seem to be getting better, so don't want to upset all that. I could just try eating lots and lots of celery

CRP 4 is normal range, I think!!!

Diuretics many times compliment the BP drugs but only your doctor can confirm that. You can do it as a test. I take one once a week, some weeks I only take half, some weeks none; I've learnt to watch my tummy and fingers and judge for myself.

Verbena is extremely diuretic.

It's kinda lemony, I don't love it but don't hate it either.

Yes nothing too serious, but he says he may as well slit his throat (watered down version) cos he has more uric acid than normal in his blood, at risk of gout, should keep off beer, wine, steak etc every thing he likes. shame

Hi Chris,
Vitamin C is proven to drop Uric Acid. They also say about verdena and nettle (you can make teas with them).
Since in Greece people use herbs to help cure various conditions, I googled it and I found that celery is good in combination with milk. They say that you can boil 30grms of celery leaves in milk and drink it every morning with an empty stomach.

Thanks for the info TML, I could find lots of 'do not eats' on google but not much in how to reduce the acid.

I'll do some more research and let you know if I find something additional.

So, I'm browsing the Greek botanical sites and so far I see that it is good to consume:
Vitamin C and E.
Apple Cider Vinegar.
Cherries, strawberries and blackberries.
Soy beans and pulses.
I also found a couple more herbs, which I'm trying to translate in English and I will let you know about them.
