What to do...
21 Jun 2013, 06:28
Hi
I have lost over 17 pounds but the last couple of weeks it slowed right down last week 1/2 pound this week 2 ounces. This week I also have done 2 hrs of intense exercise and probably one of my strictist weeks, So today doing my 3rd Fast day.
Is this normal maybe at this stage, as I would like to lose at least another 1/2 stone.

Thanks for any advice....

The short answer is probably keep doing what you are doing, because you have proven weightloss, but seem to have hit the dreaded plateau.
It is worth considering that your TDEE will have gone down as your weight has gone down which will give you less leeway on your Non-Fast days calories. Lots of ideas on here for breaking through the plateau - 8 hour window, liquid only fasts, reducing carbs etc etc
See which you think might suit your situation best.
Well Done though :clover:

What's so special about 7 days as a time period to measure loss? Look at your total loss to date instead.

That is why i love this site. At slimming clubs they write down your weekly loss gain, so it is always there in front of you. Awful!!! But here what is left on your profile is total loss and that is a much more positive thing to focus on!! good luck .

I agreee with the other posters, and just want to add that doing more exercise can mean that you see a temporary gain on the scales as your muscles retain water!

Thank you for starting this thread Zacardwell I am in a similar situation losing 4 oz in weight last week & what looks like a similar or less loss this week, but I weigh in tomorrow to confirm this. It is very frustrating isn't it? I am trying switching things around with 16:8 ing & I am fasting today. This is my first "plateau" or at least really losing little or staying the same. I suppose we just need to keep going? & trust that this will work again?
This WOE is long term for me & I want to believe it will work. :frown:

I've been stuck 2 weeks after losing 17lb myself. Last week I put on 1.5 lb.. despite doing some extra miles on the bike (I'm doing 13k 3 times a week now ! not that long ago 2 miles nearly killed me)

This week I've lost 2.5 lbs and finally broken the pleateu, keep with it and you will drop again !

i think its just what happens and its our bodies re-adjusting (maybe?) and hope so... i am in it for the WOL anyway... :) just looking forward to maintaining...

Thank you Zimmer I hope it will work that way for us as well. Yes Zacardwell I guess our bodies are constantly re-adjusting to what we throw at them. Patience is not one of my stronger points but I am also in for the long term even after reaching my goal weight because of the possible health benefits. This WOE is certainly more sustainable than any other WOE I have tried which was mainly low fat calorie controlled eating. I have now thrown out any low fat food & have small amounts of butter, olive oil & probiotic yoghurt to eat. Well onwards & hopefully downwards. I am going to tackle my pile of ironing which will at least exercise my arm
