Delighted or Disappointed?

18 posts Page 1 of 2
I have had nearly two weeks of overindulgence due to celebrations for my birthday, elder daughter's birthday, our wedding anniversary, younger daughter achieving a 2i degree and cousin's 40th birthday. I have also been catching up with old friends. All have been wonderful but I have gained weight at each of the last two weigh ins and now have slipped back into the overweight category :frown:

Oh well - I gained less than I had feared - only two pounds - so I am not too disheartened and will be more restrained next week. Life is for living and celebrations with family and friends are special
Please enjoy the rare special things, we always have fasting to return to on the ordinary times :0)
Hi windsinger 123 Well it sounds like you've had quite a few good celebrations, and you may be overweight but I think 2lbs is brilliant!!
You know how to get back on track, that's the joy of this woe it's so flexible and '' allows'' you to have a good time then payback :clover: Sue
Yes agree here - you have a lot to celebrate, so totally understandable ... And 2lb isn't a lot in the scheme of things, when you have lost over 10kg :like: :clover:
Hi windsinger123,

2 pounds isn't bad for 2 weeks indulgence, the odd week off is ok....it's when the weeks turn to months when the problem starts again! I've just been on holiday for 2 weeks and had a week building back up to starting 5:2ing again! First fast day tomorrow for 3 weeks, then weigh day on Tuesday....i'm hoping it won't be too bad!!

Here's to a healthy week! :clover:
Should have called your thread 'fabulous fortnight' all those lovely celebrations :like: that's the great thing about this, you can leave off and pick up again whenever it suits.
2lb? Pah!! Small sacrifice for your fabulous fortnight
I agree with the others, 2 lbs is a very small and TEMPORARY price to pay for having such lovely times with the special people in your life. You will easily get rid of this as you now know how to do it painlessly and this is the magic of 5:2 so, good luck, even though luck no longer has anything to do with it,

Ballerina x
Thank you all for your supportive comments. My sensible self knows that it is a small gain and worth it for the wonderful times I've had, but a small part of me feels disappointed that I am heavier when I had been doing so well. Your support has boosted my sensible self so back to fasting tomorrow with renewed determination to get back to 'normal'
Forgot to say I love Wendy Darling's suggestion of calling this thread my Fabulous Fortnight - a much more positive way of looking at it!
Did you fast during these two weeks?
Don't ruin your fabulous memorable celebrations with negatives about your weight. You would have been utterly miserable if you had 'dieted' through all of them and probably made everyone else uncomfortable to boot. Enjoy the memories, think of the 2lbs as honorable battle scars and get back into the swing of fasting again.
DomDom I fasted two days in the first week but only one day in the second, and I really ate and drank too much on many of the other days.
I know how you feel my husbands friend's have come back home from various parts of the world so it's been a mad weekend (Even though I recorded everything and didn't appear to do too badly) I've put on 6lbs this week. I have found though that I am really really looking forward to my fast today, it's like my body is crying out for the break.
windsinger123, I completely understand your disappointment. You are taking a very grownup view about it though, and well done for getting back in the saddle and not letting your gain get you down, as well as acknowledging that you completely enjoyed the celebrations you had! You will get back to "healthy/normal" very soon, guaranteed (if you're not there already).
I can put on 2 lbs inhaling and so you've done very well.

You have all the tools now, so that you CAN enjoy these events! It's not endless steps up in weights, it's more snakes and ladders now. :-)
