Delighted or Disappointed?

Today I reached my target of ten stone, seven pounds! I started this WOE at the end of January. In 23 weeks I have lost 23 and a half pounds, despite a two-week cruise and a ten day holiday in Germany (combined weight regained on those two occasions 13 pounds!) and all the other social occasions which are part and parcel of everyday life. I got on and off the scales three times this morning to make sure that they were correct and the weight just didn't change!

However, there is a 'but' coming along! I have been here before, many times in the last forty years (I am a brilliant dieter!), and each time I have regained the lost weight when I returned to 'normal' eating after following a strict calorie-controlled diet. I couldn't begin to count the number of times the same twenty five pounds have been on and off! So, my real target it to maintain this weight for at least six months and then forever. Only then will I really believe that I have sorted out my eating habits for life!
Yay - brilliant - that's fantastic

I'm sure you'll keep it off, with some fasting combination that works for you.

Enjoy your brilliant achievement
Congratulations, you are a star!
This WOE is so different to other diets that I feel it will be an easier challenge to maintain- but I sure know what you mean.
This time we have been eating our favourite foods all along and not feeling denied, so hopefully it will seem different.
All the best of luck, hope to join you there in a few months!
Fantastic news and very good luck over the coming months :victory: :clover:
Congratulations on getting to your goal!! :like: I don't think you will put it on again this woe/wol is so different, + flexible and you've proven you can get back on board, like you did after holidays, what's 1 or 2 days per week compared to the rest of your life :clover: enjoy + relax Sue
Congrats and good luck! :clover: You can do it!
Congrats and good luck with maintenance!
Well done and congratulations! :like: :star: What is so fantastic about this WoE is that we always have the tools to maintain and it's so simple, be mindful and fast or skip a few meals. You can do it! :clover:  :victory:
Such wonderful news, congratulations! :like: I am sure that you will be able to keep the weight off this time, thanks to the 're-education' by 5:2. Look forward to hearing how you manage maintenance! Best wishes.
That is great news! I have the same fear about putting it all back on but I think, as others have said above, this is a bit easier to stick to and to get back on the wagon if you fall off!

I have been watching how some of my thin friends tend to eat (that sounds wrong doesn't it!??!) and they seem to cut back on meals if they know they will be going out and having a feast later. This way of eating is training me to be like that which I think is helpful.

Good luck and I think you will be ok this time!
Many congratulations from me, too! What brilliant news. I think you should be really proud :) I think we must be about the same height so I am aiming to join you at that goal as soon as possible!
Snap, I could have written your post. Lost count of the number of times I've lost and gained the same damned fat over the years but this time, not only have I (over) reached my target but I have now maintained for 4 months, this is an all time record, actually, there was no record to beat as I have always been unable to sustain any loss so, I am thrilled and I believe I will now sustain this wol and woe because it is just so easy,

Ballerina x
You're tale definitely rings a bell .... I've put on and lost the same stone or two so many times over the years. I'm 8lbs off target but hope that this time when I do get there I'll stay there ... best "diet" I've followed so far and I think it is something I can sustain long-term. Well done and good luck with the "maintenance".
Thank you all for your congratulations and encouragement for my 'maintenance project'. I have been in the garden today, tackling the weeds, and feeliing quietly pleased. I'm on antibiotics this week, which means no fasting for me, so the challenge already is to not put any weight on in this first week of the rest of my life!

Thank you, Ballerina, for your post. It's very encouraging to hear of people who are successfully maintaining after years of yo-yoing.

Good luck to the rest of you who are still on your weight loss journey. Onwards and downwards!
Thanks so much for sharing this. I've just started in the past week and have a long way to go. I've tried many diets on the past and am really tired of losing a bit, then regaining and feeling like a failure. Reading these success stories helps spur me on to try again. I wish you the best of success with your weight maintenance and hope you continue to update us.
