Getting Sweaty! Exercise & Fitness

HI
Can anyone recommend a good work out DVD? I've decided I need to exercise more and fitting in a class outside of home is tricky. So I wanted to bring the class to me - in the form of a good DVD.

There are hundreds out there - any recommendations would be great.

Thanks
Don't know what kind of work out you like doing so hard to recommend anything.

There are lots on YouTube so you may find something on there. Also at one time the Freeview shopping channels used to run Infomercials for programs like P90X, Insanity etc which give you a good idea what they are like.
Personally I like the Davina McCall (sp?) DVD. I have 3 different ones and like to mix them up a bit. I've heard good things about the 30 Day Shred DVD, which is apparently quite hardcore!
Over the last 20+ years, I've used J. Fonda's "Low Impact Workout" and weight watchers "Low Impact" both now available only in VCR. Right now my favorite is Leslie Sansone's "Five Day Slim Down". I do one of the first four walks plus the "speed walk" for a 30-minute workout.

Sansone is appropriate for someone older, or not accustomed to exercise, or recovering from injury or illness. I'm 73 and go to weight training classes twice a week in addition to the DVD's at home. If you are younger and used to exercise, then you many need more demanding DVD's.

I second the recommendation to try them out on YouTube and add that you can borrow some from the library to review before purchase.

Good luck!
The 30 day shred is really good :) It is difficult, but it's only 30 mins so it makes sense that you have to work hard to get results from a 30 minute work out! There are easier/harder options on it as well depending on the ability of the viewer. I'd really recommend it. It combines cardio, strength and ab work :)
I'd also recommend the 30 Day Shred :) It really helps to improve your fitness levels and there are easier options to start with, so you can work up at your own pace.
Miranda's Maracattack is good I had it for christmas. Does both low and high impact as well. I use my Wii Fit as well.
The 30 day shred is the ONLY exercise DVD I've ever done more than once. It's REALLY good, and as each workout only lasts 20 minutes, about the time you feel you are going to die,,its all over :like:

Cheap to buy as well. Think mine was about £6 from amazon.
Hi there, Davina Fit in 15 is fab :like: except to complete all sections in one hit actually lasts 1hr 30min  (allowing breathing time between excercises as well as between each section) Cardio / Legs / Arms / Core / Stretch and chill out. You can push yourself as hard or soft as you like in as much as if you have recovered from an injury or joint problem,it is clearly explained how to step out the exercises opposed to jumping them out  If like me you push yourself to the whole DVD come the chillout you too will feel soooooo relaxed :sleepy: I work with Davina at home Mondays after work (keeps me away from the kitchen as I fast on Mondays :starving: But I do enjoy my ZUMBA CLASS on Thursdays
If you don't like Jillian Michaels (30 Day Shred), try Erin O'Brien instead. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Strong-Body-Fit ... 27brienShe is the antithesis of Jillian and you feel like you are working out with her in your own home as her 'set' is her home. She uses weights as well as cardio and encourages lifting heavier weights than normal. I also like Davina, but in small doses as she irritates me after a while. :curse:
I like the Leslie Sansone 'Walk Away the Pounds' DVD's as they can be low impact if you have dodgy knee's or are only just starting out with exercise. You can get most of her DVD's on You Tube if look for them. My favourite at the moment is her HIT work out, decent tunes to bop to.

I also have her Walk away the pounds for the ab's which uses a resistance belt, which I could do with dusting off as I can't do crunch type ab workouts due to a neck problem.
