31 Jul 2013, 11:52
Hi all
i have been reading about fitbits on here and was wondering how it copes / registers something like a zumba class

does anyone zumba and fitbit? can they help - hoping to go back to zumba within the next week or 2 after a 3 month layoff due to ankle injury

also any advice on which fitbit to use would be appreciated

I have a fitbit one and LOVE it. I can't Zumba but you might check the Fitbit forums as I believe I have seen chatter there before on what activities register. I know someone who does pilates as she gets quite a few steps for that.

I have only done a zumba class twice. It was before I had my fitbit, though. I do Zumba on the Wii and Just Dance. The fitbit does well for both of them. I have a One. If you got the Flex, I don't think it would work as well with Zumba, Just Dance, or other aerobics type dancing.

The arm movements would make the results inaccurate. I have heard that the Flex and other arm bands are already less accurate. If you walk and hold on to a treadmill or shopping cart they don't pick up steps correctly.

I just had a quick look on my Fitbit dashboard and there does seem to be Zumba listed as an activity that you can log
