My dear husband has bought me a present of a fitness monitor. It's a misfit shine and having done the research, I think it suits my lifestyle much more than the fitbit, jawbone and other monitors. the great thing about it, is that it's light, comfortable, waterproof and runs on a watch battery. So I can happily wear it all the time, in the shower, swimming etc and only have to take it off every few weeks to replace the battery. So if any of you are thinking of getting a fitness monitor I'd definitely recommend you consider this one.

Sounds great congrats on getting it. Getting a fitness monitor and 5:2 changed my life! Can you tell me more? What does it monitor exactly and how do you wear it?

You can join in with the monthly fitbit thread even if you don't have one. There are other people in there that have different monitors.

It's pretty much a pedometer linked to an app. You can measure swimming cycling running and sleep, but it doesn't give as much feedback as some of the other fitness monitors and the app is also better on the apple platform than android. You can wear it like a watch or as a necklace or clipped to a lapel or looped through a shoelace. I wear it like a watch. The clincher for me is that I can wear it for weeks without needing to charge it, I can wear it in the shower and swimming and it looks like a piece of jewellery. Oh, this was the only one I was tempted to get other than the Fitbit Flex, and at the time I couldn't buy it in Australia - it looks SO nice. I use my bike a lot (for transport rather than exercise) so measuring cycling as well as steps really appeals to me. If I ever need to replace my Flex, I think I'll get one of these.

We get paid tomorrow and I will finally have enough funds to afford a Fitbit.... so in approximately ten hours I will be ordering one online.... I've waited months for this so I can't wait. That Misfit looks gorgeous tho.......
