I really like the look of this, I'll give it a go on the exercise bike tonight, and try and make it a regular thing
Really interesting. I guess I am a longtime chronic cardio addict. I have my running pace and I have my non-stop plodding up hills pace. The nearest I get to HIIT is when I keep going up hill despite the heart pounding and chest heaving, but this can't really be flat out otherwise I would have to stop. Ditto with running, I speed up several miles into a run once my subconscious believes that I will be able to finish it, and I sometimes go for it right at the end, but I don't think this is quite flat out either. The motivation is that people who did this lowered blood pressure, but the steady runners experienced no change.
But I know I ought to do resistance training for my bones, too, but I don't. Hmm ..

Sigh...I have tried HIIT, but it seems that my body won't support that; I just can't walk/run whatever fast enough to hit that wall, my legs etc hurt or don't support me...perhaps it's age (I'm 59). So at the moment I'm walking and dancing and skating...might have to be enough!
