Getting Sweaty! Exercise & Fitness

Its was only a small, small for many of you, two mile walk, but for me it was an achievement. Especially as I went and chose the steep hill opposite my house to do it up and back down again.

The downhill showed that my torn and repaired knee cartilage is still painful and will be grateful for the rest of my weight to come off.

I doubt if I will be moving much in the morning. If it hasn't triggered a response in my neck by the morning I am going to carry on with it.

Back in the day, 37 years ago, I would have run up that hill, today I huffed and puffed up it. Maybe I should make the act of running up it to be a goal to reach for? I think I shall, don't hold your breathe though, its going to take years.
Well done! :like:
There will always be people who can do more than the rest of us, but you have just taken a step closer to them!
I do hope your neck is OK in the morning, so you can continue.
Its an achievement, its YOUR achievement Julie,so be proud of yrself! X
All journeys start with a single step Julie so well done! Downhill is always tough when you're carrying extra weight. Where I live is all up and down hill and I'm now finding the downhill (and the up) much easier now after losing 30 pounds! And you should see me go on the flat! If your neck is good tomorrow keep it up - the walking I mean!
Fantastic! :star: Well done! Baby steps lead to longer steps. Hope you are feeling ok in the morning. :)
Of course, it is an achievement! But be careful with your knee! :like:
Great start. The doctors want to replace my knees...I just keep walking. I avoid stairs as much as possible and really can't run a step, but by golly it's amazing how far you can walk if you keep at it. Congrats Julieathome!
Fantastic! Well done. I bet the sense of achievement is worth the pain!
Good on you!
Congrats thats amazing Julie!!

;-) xx
Good on you. I bet you can't wait to have another go. Hope there are no aches and pains today.
Good for you julie, you should be proud...a fab achievement. I always hate exercise like that when I do but I do love to look at a particularly steep hill or cliff and think 'I've walked up that'. And it WILL get much easier the more often you do it :)
Well done Julie, I hope your neck is OK this morning.
Well done! I can walk a fair distance on the flat, but stairs or an incline get me huffing and puffing and I have to stop several times to get my breath back and heart rate down! Definitely agree that there is more stress on the knees when going downhill. I went for a long walk yesterday and today is recovery day!
I feel all warm and fuzzy for you Julie. Well done you!! (Hope there's no pain later ...)
