Hello kimbo and welcome to the forum.
When I started fasting I could hardly walk to the toilet never mind exercise I felt so weak! Now I can gaily do the 30 shred workout on a fast day with no ill effects. Lots of folk on here exercise and lots don't. Some do it on a fast day and some don't.
If you exercise regularly you will probably be ok- it is a case of listening to your body.
There's nerdy stuff about fat burning and glycogen and stuff in the lab section if that interests you and plenty of experiences for you to tap into.
See how you feel and if necessary ease yourself into it gently.

Listen to your body. When I first started I didn't workout on fast days, now I do, some days are easier than others.

Yes, exercise on the fast days. If you watch the program (see the Resources area), you'll see that Dr MM advocates walking and other activities on Fast days. As others have said, listen to your body though...

I find exercise almost mandatory on a fast day because of how it suppresses my appetite during and for about 2-3 hours after the workout. On a fast day I save all 600 calories for the evening meal, so a lunchtime run helps get me through the afternoon.

Of course, YMMV. :-)

I exercise on Fast days, and perversely find it easier to run on a Fast day after a full day of eating the day before. As others have said listen to your body especially as you are new to this WOE and decide what works best for you :clover:

I can see a logic in this - the energy tanks are full plus your stomach is not involved in digestion so exercise feels more comfortable.

There obviously must be a limit just how far you can go but it seems to be at least 4 hours hard walking or 2 hours hard biking in my case...

I find I can do mild exercise like walking or horse riding but nothing too strenuous.

I find it really difficult to run far on fast days, but I can run for much longer on the other days, since starting the 5:2 WOE.

Hi Kimbo

I wondered if you embarked on any exercise on fast days, like you was I am unsure if its the right thing to do or not, some fast days I feel so tired its hard for me to do the mile or so walk I have to do to get to work - I usually run regularly and zumba once or twice a week so its not like I never exercise at all.

No problem exercising on fast days - many people prefer it. It is probably best that the exercise be 'consistent', like walking or jogging or cycling, rather than stop and start, like doing several sprints.

Thanks, think I might try a cycle tomorrow night when I am fasting as I do interval running and I dont think the sprints will help me at the moment
