Treadmill help please

I don't know what to do and would welcome some advice.

I enjoy running outside but many things stop me. I don't feel comfortable running in public as I run slowly and like an elephant. I mainly run down a farm track doing C25k. The only problem is, after any rain the lane is so muddy and full of large puddles. I don't like running in the rain either. In the summer I find it hard to run if it is too hot. No, I am not making excuses not to run as I really do enjoy it.

My question is, would I benefit from buying a treadmill?

If so, can anybody recommend one? I have made enquiries in a specialist shop and they recommend one that cost £800. Cushions belt etc. If I get one I don't mind paying out for a decent one but don't want to wast my money.

Thanks

Lesley

We have got one, but it's a few years old now. If you have the space, I think they're a good idea. Having said that, I'm a very spasmodic user, but in any event, I run more on that than I ever would outside.
We can vary the speed, but not the gradient on ours, but I don't care because, at 64, I'm never going to do any mountain running!

We have a chunky treadmill in our garage, there are plenty of different types as you are probably finding out. My stepdad has one in his bedroom which folds up, doesn't have gradient. I haven't used the gradient on ours yet as I'm a bit scared. Will ask the hubs how much it was and get back to you. It's called Maxxus from ebay and it's German, just like our cars lol.

I have the space for one (will need to shuffle furniture round though and I will need to have one that folds up).

I feel one where the gradient can be changed will be better and more challenging. (Not that I am a fitness fanatic. ...or fit  )

We bought a York t202 (unfortunately this model isn't made anymore) cost us £600 a few years back. To be perfectly blunt we needed one that would take my weight when I wanted to use it :shame: which did make finding one more difficult. Ours has speed and gradient and I have to be honest I would never have done the C25K without it. I run outside now but it would have killed my knees if I'd tried jogging outside to start with. If you're not bothered by gradient you could probably get one cheaper, we got ours from Amazon. My husband still uses it and my mom is now doing the C25K as well!
