For me it's very simple, water, black coffee, black tea and soups. That's about it. The soups are really lignt ones like chinese soup which are less than 100cal. They are really good and really filling.
Hi Debs, I have only done a couple. (finish at lunchtime today). I get by on coffee with butter and coconut oil blended in. I only need one of those to see me through as I stay in a ketogenic state. I have found them easier to manage than wondering what to eat on fast days. Still experimenting though.
Manderley, I agreed with you about the cold, it can be quite a problem at times. Thankfully the weather up here has been unseasonably warm at the moment.

I feel quite smug this morning as I did a proper, real, complete, successful water/herbal tea fast yesterday for the first in a while. I think it's all psychological as I am back to 5:2 so there is no lack of food. Having said that I've just had homemade wholemeal toast with real butter and strawberry jam for breakfast. Today my snacking will consist of whole almonds instead of chocolate and biscuits (or just not snack).
So what is the theory with just liquid, assuming we're not talking real ale and red wine minumonline  . Is there any reason other than convenience?
90% convenience, 10% experimentation really.
For me, I don't feel hunger pangs when I do a liquid fast. Plus, on a "normal" fast, it's becoming more and more difficult to find something to eat appealing. It also boosted my weight loss.
I only have water and black coffee, Debs.
Thank you. So it sounds as though some of you don't even have the 500 cals, just liquids. I struggle some days to figure out what I want to eat and wonder if it is easier not to eat anything at all.
I like the money and effort saving of a food-free day. And avoiding the sense of dissatisfaction I sometime feel after a fast meal. And I feel great the next day

Although beer/wine days are the opposite : great at the time, grim the next day

I have black tea, water all day and a white coffee mid morning. I'm testing out a small glass of milk before bed to see if it helps me sleep
I don't know how I could have 500cal a day with only liquid so yes, when you do a liquid fast it's only liquid.

That's why I did it at first, I struggled with what I wanted to eat on a fast day and I felt worse after eating something, even only at dinner, because my appetite was full on. Don't have this problem anymore
I'm fasting today, felt very strange not fasting on Monday and feel a bit out of the swing of things, back on track today though and googling electric blankets as hating the cold I feel on fast days! Need to invest, but just can't decide which one!
I liquid fast on water and diet coke and occasionally black coffee, mainly because it's saves the calorie counting and having to think about food, it feels less hassle somehow. Also I like to think it gets the maximum health benefits (if there are any!) been fasting like this quite a while now and it definitely suits me better than eating a 500 cal meal. Happy fasting all :0)
Thursday liquid fast for me. Going to be a lovely hot day here today, which should make it pretty easy. Lots of water, although may throw a bit of salt in one or two.
I'm in for a liquid fast tomorrow. I'm a little concerned Katamac that now that the weather in the UK is beginning to get cooler that you are going to keep reminding us how hot and sunny your weather is  . We are not going to feel sorry for you.
Bahaha sorry! But I had to grin and bear it while you all had that gorgeous summer and we were cold. I'm also a total sook with cold, but love the heat - I still don't know how I survived 3-4 years in Europe!
Fast done! Morning cup of tea is gorgeous! Happy fasting all you Thursday people :0)
