Margie, there are no set rules. Some have pretty much zero calories, so just water and herb tea/black coffee/tea. Some have soup. Some have milk in tea/coffee.

I started liquid fasting because I found eating triggered hunger for me. I had already moved to only having 1 meal on fast days anyway (a small dinner) and that seemed to make me hungrier (especially when I wasn't actually hungry before I ate it). So I stick to water and herb tea now, and have pretty much zero calories for the 36 hours. Sometimes I have a tea with milk.
Do you only have fluids on this? Just green teas & water or can you have soups as we'll?
Yes some people have soup. There seems to be a difference between chewing and drinking when it comes to turning on the hunger switch. Personally I have herbals teas, tap water and sparkling water. However after reading other topics I gave Marigold bouillon a go (12 cals a mug). I was feeling lethargic, tired and grumpy on fast days and I read that this could be due to low sodium levels and the way to sort it is to have a stock drink. Yesterday I had one at lunch time and one at dinner time and I felt quite perky all day - it also feels like you are having a mug of soup.

Remember to watch your calories even when liquid fasting - there is quite a lot of calories in a bottle of wine  .

That sounds like my kind of liquid fast!! :rotfl: :drink:
I'm doing mine tomorrow (9th) still feeling a bit yucky so shouldn't have any problems not eating!
Day behind here, had a night out on Saturday and although I don't usually drunk often the wine went straight to my head which usually doesn't happen either when I drink with food, upshot wasa very nasty hangover which I still hadn't kicked by Monday so delayed my fast until today, figured the sickness from the hangover was like an extra unwelcome fast anyway! Wondering if it may be my weightloss I'm not taking into account! Fear I may have become a lightweight in more ways than one! Heading to bed thinking about my breakfast! :0)
Wednesday and I'm fasting today. Going to be hectically busy, so hopefully a straightforward and easy fast. First fast since Thursday and had a very party filled long weekend, so think my body will enjoy this.
Ok today is Thurs 10th October and I'm attempting my first 2nd liquid fast if you understand. That is I usually do 1 liquid fast and 2 normal 500cals but since I'm not running today and can only do 2 fasts, I will do 2 liquids.

However, I did something Stupid - I got it into my head that if I stopped eating at 3pm Wed that I could eat by 3pm today and that would be my liquid fast. I am thick. Obviously I then realised last night that it would 3am Friday morning when I hit 36hours not 3pm Thursday afternoon. So basically it means by 7am Friday I will have done a 40hour fast by accident. It will be interesting to see how I cope.

To respond to the question on whats allowed, I think you take in degrees as most people do here. Most people started off with 500 cal fast day, then they reduce to soup etc and then possiblly zero-50 clas( boullion, milky tea). So Monday I generally try and do 0-50 cals as I'm usually overfull after a weekend. Today, I will see how I go, I have mushroom soup if all comes to all.

I will throw myself into work today, visit mum on the way home, walk the dogs and then a nice bath before going to bed early I reckon. 13hours til bedtime - its terrible to wish your life away though
Having failed on Monday (DD come home with some freshly baked bread from our wonderful bakers... hmmm can still smell it!) I'm attempting again today, Thursday. All good so far, but the temperature seems to have taken a severe drop today and it's a tad on the cold side. Off for a brisk walk and then back to a cup of veggie stock me thinks! Meeting Doodle for coffee and chat tomorrow (and maybe a bit of cake ?) so really want to achieve this and feel that I'm really back on the wagon with you all. Good luck everyone :clover:
goodluck suchard007. It just takes perseverence. I'm on countdown to bath mode - intend to have a bath at 830pm and then early to bed. 6hours to go. Today I bought some coconut water (50cals 250mls) and I'm consuming that as finding today tough. Jesus its bloody delicious. I'm going to save the rest for my car journey home and have cup of boillon now to warm up but have to say lads- coconut water is a find for me - hydrating, full of potassium, less fizzy water for me but on the downside expensive. But if I only had it as a treat for days where I'm struggling, its only the cost of my lunch sambo anyway
Love coconut water. Can liquid fast all day on it. Great for the morning after "big nights out"
Managed yesterday reasonably well - kept busy and had a couple of veggie stocks to see me through. Really pleased as that's the first one since about late May/early June. So I've proved to myself that I CAN still do it :victory: Off to break my fast with coffee and cake with Doodle in a short while (naughty but nice) Feel like this is a good start to being part of the 69ers Christmas Club... good luck to everyone 36ing today :clover:
Mondays fast was good but yesterday I got the shakes in the evening so I had a teaspoon of peanut butter - problem solved. I have taken to weighing myself every morning and record on a Friday. Every Friday I am always 2lb down what I am on a Thursday....and I mean ALWAYS. This morning I am 2lb UP...........I have no idea what is going on. And yes, I did triple check. Never mind it should mean a great weight loss next week.

Well done Suchard. It is good to know that we can get back into it quite easily. Enjoy your cake with Doodle.
2nd liquid fast achieved this week, I have calories as have tea coffee and evening low cal thin home made soup, my aim is to be under my fasting TDEE. My night cap is a low cal hot chocolate. Always come in under 350 cal. If it works to shift me back to loosing I will be content and I don't have headaches or shakes and I feel that is low enough for me
Best laid plans, and all that! I woke on Monday morning with a heavy cold and decided to stay in bed all day. Around midday I decided to break my fast and make it a normal day, which I did.

Tuesday I woke up much better, and by the afternoon all the cold symptoms were gone except for a lingering, mild throat tickle.

So I began again on Wednesday after dinner: all I had on Thursday was a bowl of celery and mushroom soup - 90 cals, so i was happy with that.

Only thing was, when I blitzed the soup it turned into a greeney-grey sludge. Tasty and filling, and all that, but hardly an attractive dish! :frown:

I'd have it again, but I think next time I'll add the mushrooms after blitzing the soup. Any thoughts on this, anyone? I haven't made soup very often - I should have gone to the recipe section and found a T&T recipe.

Cheers, B&W

(I wrote up this post a couple of days ago - just when the board was having problems and it disappeared into the ether. I've only just summoned up the will to re-post! )
