Did it! Successfully liquid fasted from Tuesday night to this morning with no calories except milk in my morning coffee, after that just water and green tea. Wasn't hungry, did get a little grumpy around usual dinner time but that passed.

Only trouble is, didn't sleep very well, woke up around 3am and couldn't go back to sleep. Need to experiment more to find what works best for this. Eating a little bit just before bedtime seems to trip the hunger switch and make me awake and hungry; whereas a complete fast made me awake although not hungry!
I am in for the 2nd fast of the week. Went out for a meal yesterday with ice cream bakewell tart dessert :razz:
so need todays fast.
Not working today so will have to keep busy;
maybe go for a jog later as its much cooler now :smile: ,
Working tomorrow and Saturday; we had arranged a dinner party for 8 on Saturday; without realising I am working that day so my partner will have to do most of the work.

Pineneedles I have the same sleep problem - waking up about 3 or 4. It happens about 1 in 3 fasts; I have not been able to find anything that works. I don't think its hunger related for me as it doesn't happen every fast. I don't feel sleepy or lacking in energy on the days I wake early so its not a major problem. Some people find having a hot milky choc drink when they go to bed or wake early works; but doesn't work for me. You could give that a try.

Good luck all fasting today
Its Thursday evening here in Perth and I have not eaten anything since 9pm last night so I am feeling very excited that I can do these 36 hour liquid fasts. I only once or twice felt slightly hungry and it passed quickly. I do feel a little unusual mentally to have not eaten at all today. It's not something I have ever done! I felt quite normal though, like I should do this.

Is it possible I didn't struggle because I ate too much yesterday and Tuesday though? I don't know what to expect when I weigh in on Saturday. :?:

Well, happy fasting anyone who is still going today.

G'night!
First summer holidays fast and still going, went to visit a friend and her kids today so the day passed very quickly, she knows I'm fasting but hasn't quite got her head round the idea and struggled with not feeding me or making me cups of tea! The idea of not eating 500 calorie meal made it more horrifying for her to! But we had a laugh about it and she can see it's working so I think she's curious!
I used to wake in the early hours full of energy and wide awake when I switched to liquid fasting, but it passed and now it tends to be my best nights sleep. Maybe stick with it a while and see if it settles for you too before making changes?
Good luck to all Thursday fasters :0)

I am taking this advice, today is my second liquid fast, 7.48 pm and I am still feeling fine. Just water and herbal tea so far, though might have a cup of miso later. After my fist liquid fast I did have a broken night's sleep but then I felt great the following day. That and having put on a couple of pounds that I want to shift has led me back here.

Hope any other thursday fasters are having a good one :smile:
I sometimes do that early morning waking too. I hadn't tied it in to fasting, because I've done it pretty much in waves since having children, but when I think about it, I think it happens more on fast nights. I should track it in writing, because memory is such a dodgy thing to rely on.

Well done to the new-to-liquid-fasters. :)
Just broken my fast with a buttery bagel! Yum, yum! New low on the scale too! Happy days! Happy fasting everyone :0)
I've been in all week, just not had much time to get on the forum. I've done a liquid fast on Monday and Wednesday and in again today.

After doing 2 500 cal fasts last week I'm finding it so much easier not eating anything.

I saw my sister at the weekend for the first time since the new year (she lives 150 miles away). Her and her husband were visibly amazed (and perhaps a wee bit envious) at how I looked which was great. My sister who is 2" shorter than me told me that she weighed 11st 13lb which is exactly what I weigh at the moment and she is always talking about losing weight. So when I got home I text her and suggested a bit of sibling rivalry. So whoever losses the most weight by 31st August pays for the other to have a pedicure and their toes minxed. Apparently it has given my sister the kick up the butt she needed and is why I am doing 3 liquid fasts this week! I only need to lose another stone and it is about time that I just got on with it and got on to maintenance and I'm not going to let my sister win :wink: .
Ha, ha! A bit of rivalry might be just what you need to break that plateau! Is your sister going to fast too or is she traditional dieting? I'm making cakes today as finally got the time! Am hoping I will keep up momentum over the holidays and get into (without spilling out the top) of the size 18 jeans I bought for motivation. Tried them on this morning and although they fit I have far too much of a muffin top to wear them yet, would be great to wear them to inset day in September as they really show how much weight I've lost!
Good luck in your quest, sure you can do it! :0)
wildmissus, that sounds like a useful weight loss technique!

Why not start a separate thread on the subject? You might inspire other couples or groups to use a bit of friendly rivalry to spur each other on.

(Just as you've done with the 36 hour LF movement! :like: )
Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences on waking up early.

@Jacksati, now that you say that, I didn't feel more tired than normal yesterday although a bit groggy in the morning;

@Mariposa, thank you for the advice and good to hear you now sleep well. I'll try to stick with liquid fasts for now and see how it goes with the sleep.

Fasting today so doesn't really matter how well I sleep tonight as it's Saturday tomorrow and nothing planned so can have an easy day if need be. Apparently it's going to be a rainy day too which will make a change!
Thrown in a half fast today, have decided to have a normal dinner as it's stir fry tonight with leftover chicken and am happy today that I've redressed the complete pig out day I had yesterday! I couldn't stop shovelling! :0)
I've done a conventional fast today - tea/water all day, and just had a Tesco chicken in cream sauce and asparagus for 470 calories (was meant to serve 2 !)

So that's 1 LF this week, and 2 500cal fasts, plus a fair bit of going out, so hopefully a bit of a loss before my hols next week.
Mariposa - my sister couldn't possibly fast, well that's what she tells me, not sure what she's doing as she has recently given up with WW. I weighed myself this morning and have lost 2lb this week so I text her and told her that I had lost weight but I couldn't possibly tell her how much or I'd have to eat her :grin: .

B & W - good idea, I'll start a new topic when I've got a bit more time.
Well then she'll be working far harder than you, my friend said similar earlier in the week, funny thing is I used to think the same! Congrats on the 2lb weight loss, this may be just what you needed! :0)
